 WinUAE v2.6.1 Beta 2 (32-bit)
Samedi 15/06/13 à 12:21 par Firebrand
Une nouvelle beta de WinUAE a été publiée. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- Moved >2M Chip RAM merge earlier in boot process. Previous was too late and it broke early boot menu. (It sets reset proof resident positioned at the end of chip ram and if chip ram is not available early enough, exec assumes resident is invalid and ignores it). Now nearly complete unfragmented Chip RAM is available, even if booting with Chip RAM only configuration.
- Do not filter all keyboard presses without matching releases, only filter repeats. (Which isn't that simple because press and repeating press are identical events)
- Inverted keyboard releases (=press) required matching release before next press event was accepted. (This update wasn't really needed but maybe in future it will be more useful)
- Added separate 68060 unimplemented integer emulation checkbox. More compatible should only enable/disable prefetch emulation. (approximate/partial or 68000 exact)
- 68060 MOVEP was not marked as unimplemented.
- Non-prefetch CPU mode now fully checks if memory disappears after reset by checking memory "bank" pointers instead of using hardcoded addresses. Program doing software reset by executing RESET + JMP (An) now always works. (If opcode is something else or PC points to non-existing memory for some reason, it assumes program attempted normal software reset and jumps to start of ROM code). Makes aros arosbootstrap softkick more reliable under emulation.
- Tree view "Hard drives" -> "CD & Hard drives"
- Delay 68020+ interrupt detection by one instruction unless cycle exact is enabled. (For example Skeleton Krew CD32 first enables interrupt and then updates interrupt vector. Game code even guarantees request is active while enabling interrupts..)
- 68040 MMU PTEST and 68060 MMU PLPA instructions were shown incorrectly by debugger. (Read was shown as write and vice versa. Emulation was working fine)

TODO: hq2x shader filter fix and 2.6.1 should be mostly done.

 Steem SSE v3.5.1
Mercredi 12/06/13 à 21:29 par Firebrand
Cet émulateur Atari ST basé sur Steem a été mis à jour. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- Display: new option 'scanlines interpolated', mixing 'stretch' mode with scanline. That way the picture resembles more the display of a colour monitor on a real ST.The option is available in both low and medium resolutions. The option is not in the SSE option tab but in 'Display', it works
(or should) for both windowed and full screen modes.Like some other SSE features, it's more a hack than anything. Please don't change while emulation is running, it could crash Steem.
- Floppy drive: new option to display current drive, side, track and sector. Yes kid, admit it, it was your fantasy, now it's true! The "on screen display" way has been chosen because it's far less involved than messing with status bar/full screen, it just works. Quick win. The option is not in the SSE option tab but in 'On Screen Display'.
- Disk image name scrolling (same option tab).
- Floppy drive slow mode (snails in Disk manager)
*Bugfixes: Decade, War Heli, Noughts and Mad Crosses, probably others. Improvements, based on technical documentation about controller and disk format (gaps):
*Japtro - fix copied from Hatari (it worked before thanks to compensating emulation imprecisions).
*ProCopy "Analyze" function (WD1772 'Read address')
*Microprose Golf loading speed
*ST-NICCC 2000 Final by Oxygene (STF+STE version) loading speed
*Sentinel on Automation 001 is now FIXED in slow disk mode, all TOS. At last!
*FDCTNF.TOS by Petari, but just a hack (check 'Hacks')
*Note: WD1772 Commands types III and IV haven't been much modified yet.
- Pasti: toggling Pasti on/off in the disk manager will not force a reset anymore. Smarter disk manager, setting pasti on/off as needed, displaying all images. New option to make Pasti handle only STX images, Steem being in charge of the rest. Interesting possibilities.
- Timings: more precise STE CPU frequency, more precise STE DMA sound frequency, more precise MFP timers for shorter intervals (HWTST001.PRG).
- CPU exceptions: value of PC (program counter) in some provoked crashes now based on Motorola microcode analysis! No more vulgar opcode-based hacks in Steem baby (Blood Money, European Demos, Phaleon, Transbeauce 2, War Heli...)
- CPU fetching in IO zone (Union demo, Warp STX)
- CPU Bugfix Death of the Clock Cycles (broken by the Aladin fix in 3.5.0)
- Shifter: fixed Armada is Dead scroller, broken since 3.3 with 'Hacks' on (hack for Big Wobble was conflicting).
- Added option in 'startup' page to disable DSP (it's buggy/crash-prone). Attempt to reduce aliasing, eg Star Trek - nog very good!
If you're annoyed by cracks in samples caused by the filter, uncheck DSP or Microwire.
- ACIA emulation making a more explicit use of the chip's registers, with some improvements (MIDI: Notator) and bugfixes (Hades Nebula, broken since 3.4)
- HD6301 IKBD emulation bugfixes. Because we use 3rd party code, we depend in some measure on its structure, which makes some improvements difficult.
- To reduce code footprint, removed hack that has demos Dragonnels, Froggies, Transbeauce 2 running without 'true 6301 emu mode'.
- STE auto set RAM to 2MB, STF to 1MB, for better compatibility. Of course you can still change it at your convenience.
- Option 'Stealth' renamed 'Emu detect' (opposite effect, maybe clearer so).

 NeoRaine v1.4.2
Mercredi 12/06/13 à 21:25 par Firebrand
NeoRaine profite des améliorations communes à Raine mais propose aussi ses propres changements:
- support for iso.gz files : it allows to easily convert downloaded content. After downloading, cd to the new directory and :
gzip -9 *.iso
for n in *.wav; do
oggenc $n && rm -f $n
done
And you can then point neoraine directly to the cue file without even editing it. The surprising part is that an iso.gz is as small or smaller than the contents of the iso transfered to a zip file, so it's the best solution. I am sure there are equivalent ways in windows to do that without typing anything and with a lot of clicks ! ;-)

 Raine v0.61
Mercredi 12/06/13 à 21:21 par Firebrand
Une grosse mise à jour a été apportée à cet émulateur arcade. Voici les changements apportés:
Common fixes :
- new sound sync method : just rely entierly on sdl, which makes more sense, there was still some old code in there which should have disappeared a long time ago. It should fix some reports about sound breaking after very long sessions in neoraine.
- fix a stupid bug with gamepads (bad detection).
- video info display bigger
- progress dialog was invisible when loading a game from the command line and using the opengl rendering.
- No default bpp forced for opengl anymore : I noticed that on systems which don't have accelerated opengl, it's best to use the desktop bpp to render in oepngl, so that's what I do now. As a side effect the long black screens which could be seen when entering or leaving fullscreen are almost gone with this change now.
- opengl : force vbl sync when double buffer is enabled : horizontal scrolling was not perfect without the vbl, even when using double buffer, it could be seen in batrider and/or spacedx for example.

Raine:
- Add guwanges, which is a special edtion of guwange. I don't know what's new inside exactly, but at least the background during attract mode is different.
- Add semicom drivers poppyrap, cookbib3, pzlbreak. Easy to add, not bad technically, and good to test the new ways to write clones and drivers !
- In november 2010, a global change from me prevented quite a few game drivers to correctly load these games, so these drivers just crashed the emulator or produced a black screen at best. The drivers affected and now fixed are : cookbib, htchctch, chokchok, sf2yyc, galpanic, hyperpac,
twinkle, 3in1semi, cookbib2, moremore, moremorep, finalttr, hyperpcb, wintbob, macrossp, ssmissin, pipibibi, mchampdx, hedpanic !
- the lsystem (taito_l) driver now finally works in any color depth, which allows it to work in opengl or with yuv overlays. While I was at it, I added 2 more plotting sets : plotting becomes plottinga (to follow mame names), added plotting and plottingb. There is more work to be done on this driver, but this was the most important part.
- cleanup of the asuka/bonzeadv/earthjk/cadashr drivers :
*As a bonus, the background of eto is finally fixed, but since it's a pure japenese game it won't be very interesting !
*Added cadashg, the german version of cadash which was missing, but all the translations of cadash except english are so bad that it's barely believable anyway !
*Region dipswitches are now supported by raine, that means dipswitches which change based on the selected region. It allowed me to remove jigkmgri, a now useless region clone of bonzeadv.
*A dipswitch testing another dipswitch can be seen in galmedes now, if you change the dipswitch coinage type, the coinage is updated in real time on screen. I might have overdone it here, but Stephh is very happy with this change ! ;-)
-Taito tetris now finally works in any color depth, so it can be used with opengl or yuv oerlays too.
- bsystem driver : finally fully playble in any color depth too, so compatible with opengl and yuv overlays. Also I added the missing sprites to spacedx (you can see them when selecting the type of game). They have always been missing... Also fixed the framebuffer of this driver : there
was a very funny bug here, if you watched spacedx attract mode long enough, when the game sequence started, the copyright notice was still displayed in the background. But the best part is that the shots of the ships were attacking the letters and destroying them ! It was quite fun to
see a copyright notice being attacked this way !
- cps2 : fix avspd not starting (not exactly a bug here, it was more an unemulated raster effect that the game was waiting for ever)

Console :
- now supports the 68020 and the z80. Not everything works (don't try the breakpoints with these cpus !), but the basic stuff works. You need dz80 installed on the system to be able to disassemble z80 code, and m68kdis to display 68020 code (like for the 68000). Also the console won some colors, it's a basic terminal emulator after all so there was no reason not to use
more colors ! ;-)

 QMC2 v0.39 (32-bit)
Mercredi 12/06/13 à 21:15 par Firebrand
Une nouvelle version de ce frontend pour MAME, MESS et UME a été publiée. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- fix: software-list export: traverse the export map correctly
- fix: avoid crash when play was triggered on premature game/machine list data
- fix: minor: launch foreign emulators/IDs even if the current game/machine is a device set
- fix: don’t remove/hide the system-notes detail page when the game-/machine-list is reloaded
- fix: slot-devices: default slot-options with non-default BIOS selections weren’t passed to the emulator
- fix: Windows 8 specific corrections (especially related to the file-chooser and the welcome-dialog)
- fix: MESS device configurator: the UI setup wasn’t correctly stored/restored under certain circumstances
- fix: MESS device configurator: double-clicking stored configurations could lead to a crash
- fix: MESS device configurator: adjust tab-orders after dynamically changing device-mappings and slot-options
- fix: MESS device configurator: correctly clear all device-maps and reset the slot-configuration to the default one when the ‘new configuration’ button is clicked
- fix: X11 embedder: call XUnmapWindow() & XMapRaised() after releasing an emulator to avoid that its window may be hidden, corrected a centering issue upon resizing of the embed-container
- fix: software-lists: floating software-snapshots should never be shown when their contents are the ghost-image
- fix: software-lists: corrected a rare UI synchronization issue when switching systems while a software-list is currently being created
- fix: software-lists: don’t disable the complete widget when one or more expected software-lists weren’t found
- fix: avoid a rare crash that could be caused by subsequently applying settings very quickly
- fix: QMC2 Arcade / ToxicWaste theme: corrected positioning of the imager-viewer (back-side)
- fix: options / joystick: automatically select the ‘Map’ function when the user clicks ‘Apply’ or ‘OK’ so joystick function mappings actually get activated (joystick functions won’t be mapped when in ‘Calibrate’ or ‘Test’ mode)
- fix: honor the emulator’s working directory (if specified) when verifying ROMs
- fix: avoid crash of the front-end when ‘mame/mess/ume -listxml’ crashes
- fix: minor: don’t issue an actual search when no game/machine list data has been loaded yet
- fix: key-sequence scanner: avoid X Error: BadWindow invalid window parameter warning when grabbing the keyboard — on X11, the window must the ‘mapped’ (shown) first
- fix: corrected joystick support on Mac OS X by implementing real calibration / axis value normalization — see also bug tracker ID #39
- imp: added tool-buttons to select/deselect all categories in the demo- and arcade-mode setup dialogs

- imp: MAME/MESS/UME emulator templates updated to 0.149
- imp: HTML editor: added a shorter editor object reference named ‘qmc2NEO’ as an alternative to ‘qmc2NotesEditorObject’
- imp: system- and software-notes templates: template macro additions ($EMULATOR_TYPE$, $SOFTWARE_STATUS$, $SOFTWARE_STATUS_UT$ and $SOURCE_FILE$)
- imp: updated & renamed the alternative system-/software-notes templates contributed by José Marcio Rezende Franco
- imp: MESS device configurator: minor UI improvements using fewer frames and some new icons

- imp: minor speed ups on the initial loading of the game/machine list views
- imp: made XML cache loading/creation an interruptable process
- imp: X11 and Windows only: the scaling mode for snapshots taken through the embedder can now be selected
- imp: using Qt’s built-in (= non-native) standard file-dialogs wherever possible (you can optionally switch back to using native dialogs, however, we don’t recommend it due to possible issues on some platforms or desktop systems)
- imp: added a ‘reset’ action to all header context-menus (will make all contained columns visible and stretch them equally)
- imp: added support for samples to all MESS targets as well (MESS supports samples since sometime after 0.148u3), however, this doesn’t include the sample-checker yet
- imp: available ‘bios’ and ‘ramsize’ options are now displayed with their descriptions (bios) or as human readable values (ramsize), including an indication for the default option and natural sorting
- imp: enabled free sorting for shortcut- and joystick-maps
- imp: log a warning to the front-end log when QMC2 finds multiple uses of the same set name during game-/machine-list cache creation
- imp: integrated zlib updated to version 1.2.8 (see zlib’s change-log for details)
- new: system- and software-notes templates: added two new slots for use with zipped images: ‘qmc2NEO.isZippedImage()’ will determine if an image is from a ZIP, ‘qmc2NEO.getImageData()’ will return the base64-encoded image data which you can use in tags (caution: may be slow and will inflate the HTML enormously — only use this with the WYSIWYG editor!)
- new: HTML editor: added an option to show/hide the HTML tab
- new: system- and software-notes templates: added support for querying the XML (from -listxml) using XQuery through the new slots ‘qmc2NEO.queryXml()’ (will execute an XQuery on the complete XML data, warning: may be slow), ‘qmc2NEO.queryLocalXml()’ (same as before, restricted to a single game/machine and thus much faster) and ‘qmc2NEO.getXmlResult()’ (will return the list of result strings as an array)
- new: search-patterns used to match games/machines or software-list entries can now be negated on-the-fly through a setup-menu attached to the search-box’s find button
- new: promoted ‘Qt CHDMAN GUI’ (see tools/qchdman) to non-WIP status as it meanwhile supports all ‘chdman’ commands
- new: allow merging the file-chooser mapping with the currently set device-mappings
- new: added a built-in palette-editor to easily set up UI colors (without the use of a Qt style-sheet or ‘qtconfig’ which isn’t available on all platforms)
- new: added a slot-info cache for faster initial loading of data from ‘-listslots’
- new: added selectable zoom-factors for the software-list’s floating snapshot-viewer and the embedder’s snapshot-list/-viewer
- new: X11 and Windows only: snapshots taken through the embedder can now directly replace an image of any type; the image will be stored to the first (primary) folder and a backup file will be created there first (note that this is only available for images stored in folders, not for zipped images)
- new: added support for state-checking, -caching & -filtering of software-lists
- new: added a source file column to all game-/machine-list views
- new: added an option to allow for automatic emulator termination when a new one is launched (i.e. run one emulator instance at a time)
- new: added new QMC2 Arcade theme ‘darkone’ including additional functionality by Pete Beardmore
- new: QMC2 Arcade’s default values for the command line switches -theme, -console and -graphicssystem now follow any customizations made in the main GUI’s arcade mode setup dialog
- wip: adding support for freely definable additional artwork classes (system- or software-images)
- doc: the QMC2 FAQ has been moved to the wiki
