La mise à jour mensuelle de MAME a été publiée. Voici les nouveautés de février:
It’s almost the end of February, and more importantly it’s time for MAME 0.207 to be released! We’ve added two Nintendo Game & Watch titles this month: Fire (wide screen) and Snoopy Tennis. If you’re at all interested in plug-and-play TV games, this is going to be a huge update, with all the newly-supported JAKKS Pacific titles, including Disney Princess, Dragon Ball Z, Nicktoons, Spider-Man, and Wheel of Fortune, as well as a number of matching Game-Keys. The other big batch of additions this month comes in the form of a whole lot of e-kara cartridge dumps from Japan. For younger players, we’re steadily filling out the V.Smile software list, with eighteen newly supported titles. The VGM software list has been updated with the latest video game music rips, and we’ve added some more original floppy dumps and clean cracks to the Apple II software lists.
With the latest improvements to the MIPS R4000 CPU, WD33C93 SCSI and SGI Newport graphics emulation, it’s possible to install and run IRIX in MAME. This is a milestone achievement, and wouldn’t have been possible without some amazing dedication and collaboration on the part of the contributors and team members involved. With the addition of graphics and mouse support, Windows 1.0 runs on MAME’s Tandy 2000 emulation. MAME continues to add additional variants of supported systems, including the HP 9825T and the Esselte Modulab educational system.
Newly supported arcade games include an earlier prototype of Rise of the Robots, bootlegs of Ghost Chaser Densei and The Glob, and additional versions of Raiden Fighters 2, Guardian Storm, Pasha Pasha Champ, Lethal Enforcers, and X-Men. General usability improvements include friendlier Apple II disassembly, the restoration of key map support in SDL builds (Linux/macOS), and better initial window positioning on Windows.

Une nouvelle beta a été publiée pour cet émulateur Amiga. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- If win32.guikey is set to zero, disable F12 special handling. Normally if win32.guikey equals valid keycode, F12 can't open GUI, even if F12 in Input panel is configured to open GUI. (Another historic reason..)
- Genlock mode didn't always enable fully (was emulated but transparency was not visible).
- HAM + border sprites visible in border areas: in some situations bitplane data was incorrectly visible in borders.
- Filter border "blanking" was not working (b1).
- Selected filter panel mask/overlay was not updated when filter position (-4..0..4) was modified. (410b4)
- Many video port adapters (which includes grayscale mode and genlock) didn't support all doubling modes.
- Genlock and CD32FMV output was in color even if grayscale mode was enabled.
- 68030 MMU emulation now also creates short bus error frames. They are created when bus error is caused by write and write was instruction's last memory access. For some reason documentation mentions that some instruction prefetch faults also generate short frame but it seems to be incorrect.
- 68020/030 MOVES in instruction pipeline emulation (prefetch/more compatible) mode had wrong instruction length.
- 68020 full format extension disassembler fix, some addressing modes didn't print address register ([] instead of [an])
- Added IVS Trumpcard (non-Pro) v4.9 ROM.
- uaedbg ELF executable support. Not much different compared to HUNK support except ELF SHF_WRITE and SHF_EXECINSTR section flags are used to detect invalid writes or instruction fetches from non-code sections. uaedbg changed, old version is not compatible anymore. Separate debug files used in AROS are not yet parsed.
- do not try to validate or canonicalize UNC network paths to reduce unnecessary delays at startup.

byuu vient de publier la première version officielle de la résurrection de bsnes. Celle-ci n'éclipse pas pour autant higan qui reste l'option de choix pour les plus exigeants en matière de fidélité d'émulation par rapport à la console d'origine et qui continuera à être développé en parallèle, mais propose une expérience plus user friendly proche des anciennes versions de bsnes. Quant à higan, il ne connaîtra pas de v107 mais reviendra plus tard avec une v108. Voici les release notes de cet émulateur:

Une nouvelle beta de cet émulateur Amiga qu'on ne présente plus a été publiée. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- Adjusted CDTV CD drive read/play startup delays. Fixes Town without no name speech audiotrack play stopping too early.
- Window resizing keeps current window aspect ratio if left or right CTRL is pressed when resize operation starts.
- Separated Filter panel internal texture size multiplier to vertical ands horizontal. Vertical "-" = same as horizontal.
- Magic mouse mode and some other Windows program is active and mouse gets moved over WinUAE window: don't activate window automatically. It can cause side-effect where other program is still getting keyboard input.
- Simply uaegfx overlay rendering optimization, if both RTG and overlay bitmap does not change during frame: don't force full redraw.
- Fixed AGA HAM graphics corruption if same scan line had BPLCON4 non-zero, border sprites enabled and at least one sprite visible in left border and HAM bitplane active.
- Added global memwatch l option, enables invalid access logger:
*Custom registers: unaligned, byte (except $dff002 and $dff006), mirror addresses and non-existing registers.
*Custom registers: detect if any unused bit is written as one to registers like BPLCONx.

Cela faisait des années qu'une nouvelle version de cet émulateur Nintendo 64 n'avait pas été publiée. Attention, cet émulateur est en lignes de commande et un frontend est nécessaire si vous souhaitez avec une interface utilisateur graphique. Les notes de publication sont plutôt évasives sur les changements apportés:
This is a Beta release of Mupen64Plus. Please help us by testing this software on your platform and reporting bugs to our IRC channel, or Google Group, or Emutalk Forum. There have been so many changes since the last release (in 2015), that we decided to make this BETA release and only accept pull requests for bug fixes during the next month or two. Then we will make a stable 2.6 release.

Pre-built binary bundles for the following platforms are available here for your download:
- Linux 32-bit
- Linux 64-bit
- Windows 32-bit
- Macintosh OSX 64-bit
- Source Code Only

The Windows packages were built with Microsoft Visual Studio 2013, and you may need to install the Microsoft redistributable package for this version of Visual Studio, if your operating system is too old.
The Windows bundle was built with the New (Ari64) Dynarec, while all others were built with the Old (Hacktarux/Richard42) Dynarec.

Each bundle contains the following modules:
- mupen64plus-core
- mupen64plus-audio-sdl
- mupen64plus-input-sdl
- mupen64plus-rsp-hle
- mupen64plus-video-glide64mk2

L'année 2019 est déjà bien entamée, et peut-être que certains d'entre-vous seront bientôt en vacances... au ski, ou bien enroulé dans son plaid devant un bon jeu vidéo.

On commence traditionnellement par les résultats du mois dernier:

La majorité d'entre vous sont des visiteurs irréguliers qui viennent sur notre site au gré de leur besoins, mais cette majorité est rapidement suivi par ceux qui nous suivent quotidiennement. Merci de votre fidélité!

La difficulté dans les jeux vidéo a toujours été un élément présent, que ce soit dès l'origine sur les jeux d'arcade pour vous faire insérer des pièces dans la machine ou comme cache misère pour augmenter la durée de vie de jeux trop courts. Elle reste néanmoins un élément important du game design et si elle a eu tendance à se faire plus discrète depuis les dernières générations de machines, certains joueurs apprécient toujours d'être mis à l’épreuve. Et vous, qu'en pensez-vous? Préférez une traversée pépère d'un univers virtuel, ou ne pouvez-vous pas envisager une aventure sans en baver?
