 MAME v0.200
Today’s MAME release has two consecutive zeros in the version number! The only other time that happened was over twelve years ago! Although MAME version numbers are just an incrementing number, by a series of coincidences, MAME 0.200 delivers several major changes. First of all, if you’re building MAME with Microsoft Visual Studio (MSVC), you’ll need Visual Studio 2017. We’ve dropped support for Visual Studio 2015. Starting this month, we’re building the official Windows binaries with GCC 7.3 –this probably won’t affect you (we still support building with GCC 5 and up). We’re mirroring tagged releases at GitLab (source only) and SourceForge (source and binaries), so if for some reason you’re unable to access GitHub, you’ll still be able to download official MAME releases.
MAME 0.200 includes replacements for the memory system and callback API. This will enable new functionality and make MAME development more straightforward. The artwork layout system has also had an overhaul which opens new possibilities. We’ve tried our best not to break things, but if you do find something wrong, let us know at MAME Testers, or on our IRC channel #mame on the freenode network.
In arcade emulation this month, we have a number of new versions of supported titles, including a very rare prototype of Led Storm Rally 2011 and three more Street Fighter II': Champion Edition bootlegs. Dreamcast/NAOMI colours are greatly improved thanks to snickerbockers, and cam900 fixed some graphical effects in Gals Panic 3 and Billiard Academy Real Break. Enik Land improved emulation of the Sega Master System, Game Gear and Mega Drive VDPs, covering more corner cases.
The really exciting emulation improvements this month are on the computer side. There are lots of improvements for UK home computers, including better Camputers Lynx tape support (with lots of additions to the software list), re-worked Acorn System emulation, and support for Acorn Bus slot devices. We’ve got a brand- new modernised Apple IIgs driver, with improvements in just about every area. Also, Wayder updated the Sharp 68000 software list, correcting and organising the entries and adding the latest clean dumps.
But even more exciting is the fact that, thanks to Patrick Mackinlay’s gargantuan effort and persistence, the CLIPPER-based InterPro 2000 workstation now works well enough to install and run CLIX (a UNIX operating system). As far as we know, this is a first for MAME. The improvements to SCSI, CD- ROM, and serial emulation also benefit other emulated computer systems. Instructions are on the MAMEdev wiki if you want to try it out.

Update 3 is here with some great news, the search games panel is back next to the games filters tool bar were it belongs! I had to resort to voodoo magic to accomplish this miracle...
Panel frames settings expanded. You can choose between 3 modes: disbled, single border, double border. You can even change their colors in night mode. You might need to reconfigure the frame settings again.
Status bar colors settings for the games list, Preferences screen, was split in two sets, one for the light mode (Games List page), and another for the night mode (Night Mode page). There's a Copy button in the night mode set so you can copy status bar colors colors from the light mode.
Several updates were made to the night mode, more options for color customization and even more drawing bugs were fixed. You can change games list frame color and even disable it. Same for images panel frame.
The game documents panel now have a 7 pixels border, just like the images panel. Good for those who use image splitters with the same color as the background color. You can disable the docs panel border in Preferences screen, Game Docs page.
Last but not least, there's a new feature called Tool Bar Overlay Icons Folder (Preferences screen, Games List page). You don't need to overwrite frontend's default overlay icons with your custom icons anymore. All you need is to create a new sub-folder inside \resources\main_icons\overlay\ base folder with the name of your choice and place your custom icons there. Then you can switch between default overlay set and custom sets at will. Feature for both light mode and night mode.
There are some new screenshots in the screenshots page demonstrating the awesome powers of the dark side, err... night mode.
Thanks to Fabian Leonel for making them. They look fantastic. I'll update the rest of the screenshots when I can. You can contribute with frontend screenshots as well. Just make sure they are in PNG format with no compression for maximum picture quality.

- Heavy tool bar flickering when resizing main screen / images panel
*caused by the tool bar's "repaint" internal event (not accessible by the user)
*tool bar "DoubleBuffer" property is now always enabled
- Frontend crash when clicking "All Visible" button in "Customize Tool Bar" (games filters tool bar)
- Image category icon in images tool bar was showing the night mode overlay while in light mode
- Frontend crash when detecting "Atari 800" cartridge type from an unzipped game Unicode filename

- "Search Games" panel is back in the games filters tool bar
*floating panel is still available as an option (access in "Settings" button)
*games list attached panel is gone
*new "Use Small 16x16 Icons" option , access in "Settings" button (default 24x24 icons)
*new "Show Filter Labels in Small Tool Bar" option to show labels, "small tool bar" mode only
*the "Search" tool bar button is visible only for the floating panel
*the floating panel "enabled" state is no longer restored at startup
"Games List Status Bar" colors limited to the light mode (Preferences screen, "Games List" page)
- Setting "Panel Outer Frame Color (7 Pixels)" renamed to "Image 7 Pixels Border Color" to avoid confusion with night mode (Preferences screen, "Games List" page)
- Behavior of panel frames have changed, two options to choose from:
"Outer Frame": enable this to use a single frame
"Inner Frame": enable this to use a double frame; "outer frame" must also be enabled
*disabling both settings or just "outer frame" removes the panel border completely
*tool bars updated to support the new setings
- Message box now show top bar color and labels colors according to game's set status
*green bar for available games
*red bar for available games with missing ROMs/CHDs
*gray bar for missing games

- New "Show Game Documents 7 Pixels Border" checkbox and "Border Color" settings, to align the panel with images panel (Preference screen, "Game Docs" page)
- Night mode improvements ("Night Mode" page in Preferences screen)
*"Search Games" panel colors customization expanded to include the edit box
*customize games list frame color and visibility
*tick the new "Use Windows Themed Border" to disable games custom frame color; it shows a single border
*the frame in games filters tool bar is now drawn outside the client area, and it can be set to disabled, single or double frame
*customize images panel frame colors and visibility
*images tool bar height aligned with games filters "small tool bar", frame is now drawn outside the client area
*"Customize Games List Status Bar Colors" settings for the night mode (colors box in "Games List" page is now only for the light mode)
- New "Panels Colors" general settings for the night mode, so you can change frame colors, background color, font color and shadow font color
*"Apply Filters" message box
*"Initialize Zipped Images Contents" message box
*Game Details
*Select a Machine to Run Game
*Load Multi-Slot MAME Games
*Load Console/Computer Multi Floppy Disk Games
*Search Games floating panel
*Rename/Delete Game Images
*Customize MAME Software List
NOTE 1: not all texts can have custom colors (font color and shadow font color)
NOTE 2: background color is it's not widely applied; only for a few panels
- New setting "Tool Bar Overlay Icons Folder" (preferences screen, "Games List" page)
*you don't have to overwrite frontend's overlay icons anymore, just create a sub-folder with your custom icons and select it in the drop-down box
*sub-folder must be inside "frontend_dir\resources\main_icons\overlay\" base folder
*for both light mode and night mode
*use ANSI directory names only, no Unicode support
*you only need to add icons that are different than the ones from the base folder
*if an icon doesn't exist in the sub-folder, the overlay icon from the base folder will be used
*overlay icons are used in games filters tool bar and images tool bar (so far...)
*folder name is used as the icons set title
*added a "Dark Grey" icons set for the night mode; thanks to "Fabian" for creating the icons

 WinUAE v4.0.1
4.0.0 bugs fixed:
- Enabled “Minimize when focus is lost” option caused crash in some situations.
- 64-bit FPU mode always changed back to 80-bit if config file was loaded.
- 80-bit native FPU mode FREM and FMOD returned wrong results.
- RTG statefile restore didn’t restore screen state completely.

Other bugs fixed:
- “Minimize when focus is lost” incorrectly activated when switching modes in some situations.
- “Minimize when focus is lost” minimized main emulation window when GUI was open and main window lost focus.
- If CPU panel FPU mode select menu was active and then some other panel was opened: JIT was switched off.
- CD audio play from real/virtual CD (not from directly mounted image file) didn’t restart correctly if audio settings changed.
- Only some emulated SCSI controllers flashed CD led when emulating a CD drive.
- input.keyboard_type was always read as Amiga keyboard. If PC layout was set as default, keyboard layout was read incorrectly from config file.
- Amiga reset during active RTG rendering in RTG Multithread mode could have caused a crash.
- RTG Multithread mode display refreshing was unreliable in 8-bit modes when palette changed.
- Finally fixed corrupted drag and drop graphics in Harddrives and Disk Swapper panel.
- When inserting previously connected USB input device, previous device type (Gamepad, CD32 pad etc) and autofire mode (if any) was not restored.
- Clipboard sharing could have attempted to transfer data to Amiga side after program had taken over the system, possibly overwriting memory.

New features:
- Environmental variables (%variable%) in paths are not anymore resolved immediately when config is loaded but only when needed without modifying original path, preserving original path if config file is saved again.
- Added full statefile absolute/relative path support. Loading statefile will restore correct paths even if absolute/relative path mode was changed after saving the statefile.
- D3D9 and D3D11 VSync mode (both lagless and standard) 100/120Hz support with optional black frame insertion.
- 68060 FPU was not disabled after soft reset if 68060 was configured without emulated 68060 accelerator board, causing reset loop.

New emulated expansions:
- QuikPak 4060

 Virtual GameBoy v5.5
Lundi 16/07/18 à 12:18 par Firebrand
Cet émulateur GameBoy a été mis à jour. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- It adds emulation for the "GameBoy Advance Compatibility Mode", where someone plugs a GameBoy Color cartridge into GBA. Some games, such as Shantae, will sense this and enable additional features. I have also added ability to pause replay with UP button and single-step through your gameplay with LEFT and RIGHT buttons. Once satisfied, press UP to resume, or any other button to continue playing.

 WinUAE v4.0.1 Beta 6
- Statefiles now include full relative and absolute path (disks, harddrives etc), supports restoring statefile paths correctly even if relative path mode changed between save and restore. Old versions ignore new fields, old statefiles work like previously.
- If statefile was restored with disk image inserted in drive(s) but disk image was not found, saving statefile again made disk drive empty. (old bug)
- When tracing ('t' debugger command) STOP instruction in debugger, break first when STOP is executed (like previously), next trace waits until STOP instruction exits. Previously STOP activated debugger immediately again.
- Picasso96 statefile restore didn't restore screen state fully. (4.x bug)

- input.keyboard_type was always read as Amiga keyboard. If PC layout was set as default, keyboard layout was read incorrectly from config file.
- Amiga reset during RTG rendering in RTG multithread mode could have caused a crash.
- Modified Filesys path in hardfile dialog was not saved if dialog was exited with return key.
- Don't attempt to resolve symbolic links or shortcuts when saving config file paths. (b4)
- Only attempt to resolve symbolic links when directory filesystem accesses it (to simulate Amiga side link), not when opening disk images, hardfiles etc..
- Fixed clipboard sharing (b1 update broke it)
- Delay clipboard data transfer when screen mode changes to prevent situation where mode changed because of program taking over the system. (Emulator can't easily detect between all kinds of Amiga-side triggered native<>RTG mode changes or if it is user switching modes/alt-tabbing which triggers clipboard data transfer check)
- Added Harddrives and Disk Swapper drag'n'drop workaround that fixes corrupted graphics during drag operation. (ListView_CreateDragImage seems to been broken since Vista or so..)

- Floppy, CD, Tape, HDF geometry, HDF filesystem, disk swapper, RTC and flash rom file paths also support b1 resolve environmental variables update. (b1 update had issues requiring partial rewrite so it was good idea to update all other paths too. Excluding special paths like ROM paths.)
- Previously only some SCSI controllers flashed CD led when emulating CD drive.

Of course I had to miss something...
I forgot to include arcade\filters\mame_filters.ini file. Some filters were renamed and are not added to the list without it.
The Search Games feature was expanded. Besides the floating panel, you can now choose to attach the panel below the games list or at the top.
If you press ESC key while the edit box is focused, the search bar closes, just like in Firefox / Chrome internet browsers. Also, the search panel enabled mode is now restored at a frontend restart.

- Forgot to include the updated file "\arcade\filters\mame_filters.ini" for "Arcade Games Filters" tool bar button
*some filters were renamed
*one filter slip in two for easier games filtering
*the frontend was crashing without this updated file

- Color tweaks to night mode
- Tweaks to "Delete/Rename Game Image File" screen
- "Search Games" panel expanded, 3 view modes:
1. floating panel: default behavior, located just below the search button in filters tool bar
2. panel attached to the bottom of the games list: slim panel with 40 pixels height
3. panel attached to the top of the games list: slim panel with 40 pixels height
*to switch between modes, click the new "tool bar" button next to the close button
*you can customize "Night Mode" colors of the attached panel, "Night Mode" page in preferences screen
*floating panel still have fixed colors - in light mode, colors are fixed
- "Search Games" panel "enabled" state is now restored on a frontend restart

- Minor source code cleanup

 WinUAE v4.0.1 Beta 3
- If CD audio playing from real/virtual CD (not directly mounted image) was restarted because of config change, playback always started from beginning (or possibly failed to restart).
- 68060 FPU disable behavior change (68060 accelerator boards have "$f0" ROM to disable FPU because exec does not understand 68060 FPU and will crash if enabled), FPU is not anymore automatically disabled at hard reset if any emulated accelerator board is configured (matches now real world), if no accelerator board: if UAE boot ROM is at $f00000 ("old" mode), it disables FPU (just like real accelerator board do), if UAE Boot ROM is any other address: ("new" mode), m68k RESET instruction will disable FPU. Previously 68060 config got stuck in reboot loop because of not-disabled FPU if system was software reset.
- D3D9/11 vsync modes (lagless and standard) will now support 100/120Hz with optional black frame insertion.
- Always check interrupts immediately after MOVE to SR instruction (except if JIT enabled). Previously it was delayed until following instruction if fast 68020+ mode.
- Above FACOS JIT fix.

 VirtualC64 v2.2
- Emulation of the VC1541 disk drive has been improved considerably. The emulator is compatible with various fast loaders now. Before updating, please note that the higher accuracy results in a reduction of the maximum emulation speed (warp mode) by approx. 25 percent. I hope to be able to restore the old emulation speed in one of the next releases.
- Added an option to the emulator preferences to disable the auto-snapshot feature.
- Fixed a bug that caused the drive to enter write mode after a reset.

 WinUAE v4.0.1 Beta 2 (32-bit)
- QuikPak SCSI working. (Has same bug as tekscsi2.device 1.0: does not load RDB custom filesystems)
- 80-bit FACOS fix. Also removed old unneeded JIT FACOS workaround.
- If drive identity is read and it is CHS-only, don't enable CHS-only mode unless host OS also returns zero drive size. Some (old) Windows IDE drivers do support CHS-only drives. (3.6.0)
- Added checks to prevent crashes when running in lagless vsync under wine. (DISPLAYCONFIG_VIDEO_SIGNAL_INFO and IDXGIOutput1 not implemented)

QuikPak 4060:
- Very similar in high level compared to TekMagic, main difference is SCSI chip, 53C720 (was 53C710 in TekMagic).
- "tekscsi2.device (tekscsi2 2.1 (17.7.97) ©1997 Asimware Innovations Inc.)". Apparently v2.2 also exists.
