 Raine v0.91.3
Lundi 11/05/20 à 14:06 par Firebrand
Une nouvelle version de cet émulateur multi-systèmes a été publiée. Voici la liste des nouveautés:
Ok, I'll start by what took me the biggest amount of time, even if it's very specific, the unicode filenames in windows !
So to see the problem you need some non-standard characters in a folder or filename, it's easier if it's on a folder containing some neocd game. I visited the wikipedia page about "the king of fighters", and got the japanese name of the game from there : (ザ・キング・オブ・ファイターズ 京). So just copy and paste this at the end of the name of such a directory. Then run any previous version of raine : the directory will be impossible to find ! It might be possible to do that with just 1 character, and less exotic, but I am not sure about this, and I am sure about the japanese name !
The reason is because microsoft has some inherently broken api to access its files, if the filename contains some non-standard character for the current code page of the system (which can't be utf8 of course !), then the usual functions to access files return a filename which is absolutely unusable. So the old versions find nothing when trying to access the dir, and forget about it. I am not going to tell the whole technical solution I found, if you want to see that, go to the git page. But shortly, the file selector now uses windows native functions to get the file listing, but since it still needs a standard file name for the file operations, it uses the short filename when available, using the usual long one just for display in the file selector. This means the workaround will work only if your volume has some short filenames, but normally it's the default for any volume created in windows - I created one in linux and used it in windows, in this case it didn't have any short file name, and it took me quite a while to find out how to reactivate them for this volume !
Anyway, after this you should see something for the directory if using this version. If you really want to see the Japanese characters in the gui, you'll have to replace the Vera.ttf in raine's font directory by some font containing these characters. All the biggest fonts in your windows fonts directory should work, assuming it's not too old. msyh.ttc for example, just copy this one to fonts/Vera.ttf in raine's directory and you are done (I prefer the look of Vera, but it has no japanese chars !). (difficult to copy that using the explorer because it doesn't show filenames from the fonts directory ! Oh well, you can always use the very outdated cmd.exe for that, dir /Os to have the biggest files, then make your choice and copy !).

Except this big annoyance, the other changes :
- fixed again some cheats, this 0.91 version is mainly about that after all, there were some bugs for kof98 particularly, I found quite a few which obliged me to redo the conversion for most of them.
- added some new command line switches : -nb, -wb, -rp, see raine -h for details.
- Fixed the display when starting raine without any gui in opengl (-n switch).

So that's quite a big one, once again... I hope I won't have to deal again with these unicode characters at least, I couldn't leave it like that with some files impossible to access, but it's a mess I prefer to avoid otherwise !

 Nintendulator v0.985 Beta (09/05/20)
Dimanche 10/05/20 à 14:09 par Firebrand
Beaucoup de nouvelles versions pour cet émulateur dernièrement. En voici encore une. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- I've made some sweeping changes to all of the Mapper DLLs so that they can more intelligently manage multiple versions of their savestate data. This required updating the mapper interface version number, so any 3rd-party mapper modules will need to be updated.

 Nintendulator v0.985 Beta (08/05/20)
- A rather curious bug in the EEPROM logic for mappers 16 and 159 was pointed out to me which resulted in save data being corrupted. This should hopefully no longer happen.

 RetroArch v1.8.6
Mercredi 06/05/20 à 15:04 par Firebrand
Cet ensemble de noyaux d'émulateurs réunis au sein d'une même interface a été mis à jour. Voici la liste des améliorations:
- 3DS: Add IDs for UZEM, TGB Dual, and NeoCD
- 3DS: Fix font driver horizontal text alignment
- 3DS: Allow button presses up to INPUT_MAX_USERS – this enables the 3DS to bind and use buttons and axis for users up to the maximum set by ‘Max Users’ in the input settings menu.
- 3DS: Disable video filter if upscaled resolution exceeds hardware limits. The 3DS has a maximum video buffer size of 2048×2048. This is sufficient for every core that it supports, but when using software video filters the core output resolution is doubled. This is made worse by the fact that the video filter upscaling buffer size is dependent upon the maximum output resolution of the core – which in some cases is very large indeed (e.g. pcsx-rearmed sets a maximum width of 1024, for enhanced resolution support). The 3DS has very limited ‘linear memory’ for graphics buffer purposes, and a large base core buffer + video filter buffer can easily exceed this – which may also disable video output, or cause a crash. This PR very simply adds a 3DS-specific check to the video filter initialisation: if the resultant upscaling buffer exceeds the hardware limitation, then the filter is automatically disabled.
- 3DS/FONT/BUGFIX: Text colour was wrong: the RGBA channels were muddled, and R was always set to 255
- 3DS/FONT/BUGFIX: When drawing multiline strings, the line spacing was completely incorrect
- 3DS/FONT: Improves the appearance of the drop shadow effect on notification text.
- 3DS/ARCHIVE/7Z: Re-enable 7zip support.
- ARCHIVE/ZIP: Expand functionality of ‘rzip_stream’ interface. This PR expands the functionality of the new rzip_stream archived stream interface such that it now has almost complete feature parity with the standard file_stream interface, and can therefore be used as a drop-in replacement in most situations
- AI SERVICE: Hide redundant entries when service is disabled
- AI SERVICE: Added in auto-translate support
- AI SERVICE: support for NVDA and SAPI narration
- AUTOCONFIG: Use correct port index in input device configured/disconnected notifications
- BUGFIX: Fix race condition where task could momentarily not be in the queue when reordering
- CHEEVOS/BUGFIX: Prevent null reference rendering achievement list while closing application
- CHEEVOS/BUGFIX: Report non-memorymap GBA cores as unsupported
- COMMANDLINE: Advise against using -s and -S variables on the command line.
- CONFIG FILE: Only write config files to disk when parameters change
- CONFIG FILE/BUGFIX: RetroArch no longer crashes when attempting to save a config file after ‘unsetting’ a parameter (currently, this can be triggered quite easily by manipulating input remaps)
- CONFIG FILE/BUGFIX: When using Material UI, RetroArch no longer modifies the wrong setting (or segfaults…) when tapping entries in the Quick Menu > Controls input remapping submenu
- CONFIG FILE/BUGFIX: Quite a few real and potential memory leaks have been fixed.
- CHD: Fixes a crash caused by ignoring the return value from one of the CHD library functions
- FASTFORWARDING: A new Mute When Fast-Forwarding option has been added under Settings > Audio. When enabled, users can fast forward without having to listen to distorted audio.
- GLCORE/SLANG: Set filter and wrap mode correctly when intialising shader textures. Before, the glcore shader driver did not correctly initialise loaded textures. The texture filtering and wrap mode were forced on texture creation, but these settings were not recorded – subsequent updates would set garbage values, that would resolve to linear filtering OFF and wrap mode = CLAMP_TO_EDGE.
- LOCALIZATION: Update Japanese translation
- LOCALIZATION: Update Spanish translation
- LOCALIZATION: Update Portuguese Brazilian translation
- IOS: Set audio session category to ambient so sound does not get cut off on interruption (phone call/playing back audio)
- MAC/IOHIDMANAGER/BUGFIX: Fix for Mayflash N64 adapter. In case last hatswitch does not match cookie. For the mayflash N64 adapter, I was getting a BAD EXC ADDRESS (in mac OS 10.13) for this line (tmp was NULL). Retroarch would crash in the gui if I pressed a button from the DPAD on controller 2. With this change, it no longer crashes in the gui and still registers the button push.
- MAC/COCOA: Fix mouse input – this brings back two lines of code that have been removed over time but appear to be required in order for mouse input to work on macOS
- METAL/BUGFIX: GPU capture on Metal/OSX/NVidia could crash
- METAL/BUGFIX: Taking screenshots could capture black frames. Resulting PNG screenshots were black.
- METAL/BUGFIX: Corrupted image due to incorrect viewport copy when taking screenshot
- MENU: Prevent font-related segfaults when using extremely small scales/window sizes
- MENU: Fix ‘gfx_display_draw_texture_slice()’
- MENU/FONT: Enable correct vertical alignment of text (+ font rendering fixes)
- MENU/RGUI: Enable automatic menu size reduction when running at low resolutions (down to 256×192)
- MENU/OZONE: Update timedate style options for Last Played sublabel metadata
- MENU/OZONE: Hide ‘Menu Color Theme’ setting when ‘Use preferred system color theme’ is enabled
- MENU/OZONE: Fix thumbnail switching via ‘scan’ button functionality
- MENU/OZONE: Prevent glitches when rendering Ozone’s selection cursor
- MENU/OZONE: Enable proper vertical text alignment + thumbnail display improvements
- MENU/OZONE: Enable second thumbnail/content metadata toggle using RetroPad ‘select’
- MENU/OZONE: Refactor footer display
- MENU/OZONE: Hide thumbnail button hints when viewing file browser lists
- MENU/OZONE/INPUT/BUGFIX: Fix undefined behaviour when using touch screen to change input remaps
- MENU/OZONE/INPUT/BUGFIX: It turns out that Windows reports negative pointer coordinates when the mouse cursor goes beyond the left hand edge of the RetroArch window (this doesn’t happen on Linux, so I never encountered this issue before!). As a result, if Ozone is currently not showing the sidebar (menu depth > 1), moving the cursor off the left edge of the window generates a false positive ‘cursor in sidebar’ event – which breaks menu navigation, as described in #10419. With this PR, we now handle ‘cursor in sidebar’ status correctly in all cases
- MENU/OZONE/INPUT/BUGFIX: Pointer input is now correctly disabled when message boxes are displayed
- MENU/XMB: Fix thumbnail switching via ‘scan’ button functionality
- ODROID GO ADVANCE: Add DRM HW context driver
- PSL1GHT: Initial port
- PSL1GHT/KEYBOARD: Implement PSL1GHT keyboard
- PLAYLIST/BUGFIX: Improve handling of ‘broken’ playlists – RetroArch will no longer segfault when attempting to run content via a playlist entry with missing path or core path fields.
- PLAYLIST/BUGFIX: Improve handling of ‘broken’ playlists – when a playlist entry has either core path and/or core name set to NULL, DETECT or an empty string, attempting to load content will fallback to the normal ‘core selection’ code (currently this happens only if both core path and core name are DETECT – this is wholly inadequate!)
- PLAYLIST/BUGFIX: RetroArch will no longer segfault when attempting to fetch content runtime information when core path is NULL
- PLAYLIST/BUGFIX: Core name + runtime info will only be displayed on playlists and in the Information submenu if both the core path and core name fields are ‘valid’ (i.e. not NULL or DETECT)
- PLAYLIST/BUGFIX: When handling entries with missing path fields, the menu sorting order now matches that of the playlist sorting order (at present, everything goes out of sync when paths are empty). Moreover, entries with missing path fields can now be ‘selected’, so users can remove them (currently, hitting A on such an entry immediately tries – and fails – to load the content, so the only way to remove the broken entry is via the Playlist Management > Clean Playlist feature)
- PLAYLIST: Add optional per-playlist alphabetical sorting
- PLAYLIST: Omit whitespace when writing compressed JSON format playlists
- PLAYLIST: Add optional playlist compression
- QNX: Support analog sticks
- SAVESTATES: Add optional save state compression (enabled by default now)
- SRAM: Add optional save (SRAM) file compression
- SCANNER: Prevent redundant playlist entries when handling M3U content
- SCANNER/ANDROID: Fix content scanner being unable to identify certain games from CHD images (raw data sector/subcode)
- TASKS/BUGFIX: Fix task deadlocks
- TASKS/SCREENSHOT/BUGFIX: Fix heap-use-after-free error when widgets are disabled
- TVOS: Disable overlays for tvOS, fix app icon
- VIDEO/WIDGETS/BUGFIX: The font ascender/descender metrics added in #10375 are now used to achieve ‘pixel perfect’ vertical text alignment
- VIDEO/WIDGETS/BUGFIX: Message queue text now uses its own dedicated font. Previously, a single (larger) font was used for all active widgets, and this was scaled down for message queue items. This ‘squished’ the text a little; more importantly, when using the stb font renderers (on Android. etc.) it caused ugly artefacts around the edges of glyphs due to pixel interpolation errors. Now that a correctly sized font is used, the message queue is always rendered cleanly.
- VIDEO/WIDGETS/BUGFIX: Previously, each widget font was ‘flushed’ (font_driver_flush()) at least once a frame. This is quite a slow operation. Now we only flush fonts if they have actually been used.
- VULKAN/BUGFIX: Fix display of statistics text
- UNIX/BUGFIX: Fix overflow when computing total memory on i386
- WIIU/BUGFIX: Fix font driver horizontal text alignment
- WIIU/BUGFIX: Fix non-vertex coordinates in draws using tex shader
- WIIU/BUGFIX: Update and fix meta.xml file for the WiiU release. This change makes it so the information from the meta.xml file parsed for the WiiU’s Homebrew Launcher is displayed properly.

 Raine v0.91.2
Mercredi 06/05/20 à 14:43 par Firebrand
Cet émulateur multi-systèmes a été mis à jour. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- the cheats about the audio cpu didn't work, it's fixed.
- Another fix for some scripts which were incorrectly identified as "Set" scripts, like for mslug "Hit Anywhere" (it has an "off" part, and so these cheats didn't work, executing only their "Off" part when you tried to activate them).
- and the gui bug which wasn't showing an updated joystick control for some inputs

 RuMSX v0.83
Mardi 05/05/20 à 13:57 par Firebrand
Cet émulateur qui n'avait pas été mis à jour depuis près de 3 ans vient de recevoir une nouvelle version. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- HALTED RuMSX instances did not immediately stop, if termination was attempted by using Windows TaskBar.
- Accessing missing A: or B: drive now results in the correct error "The system cannot find the drive specified."
- Fix for ASCII16-Mapper: "Vaxol" writes to invalid memory locations, which are now excluded.
- Added new "ASCII MegaROM (ASCII/16 KByte) V2" ROM-type.
- Most copies of the "Andorogynus" ROM are using the ASCII/16K-mapper.
- But a few copy copies require this special ROM-type, with switching address &H8000.
- Added new "ObsoNET" ROM-type (experimental)
- TMS9918A EC bit was mistakenly ignored (MSX1 could not shift sprites 32 pixels to the left) (e.g. affected "Actman" in MSX1-mode) z.B. affected "Actman" in MSX1-mode) e.g. affected "Actman" in MSX1-mode)
- Fixed incorrect debug-message "Virtual error reading drive", even if there was no read-error (but an error-file is present)
- VDP IE1 interrupt-flag is reset on read, even if IE1 is disabled Working (again): F-Nano 2, The Haunted Demo, ... (Bug was new since RuMSX v0.41)
- YM3802 operations always wrote debug-output to the console. (Fix improves performance of MIDI commands)
- Philips Music Composer was frozen in main-menu, due to missing ADPCM-interrupt.
- Added experimental support for extended DSK file format (using 128 Byte header and additional ending-block, often used in games from www.msxgamesbox.com)
- Improved support for DDI-images (now more DDI file-formats are supported)
- Fixed SCC+ ROM/RAM mapper.
- Fixed "Tape", "A:" and "B:" buttons: Incorrect Tab was selected if number of disk-drives was not 2. Example, if a 2nd DISK.ROM was mounted.
- Improved autodetect for many classic Konami games with SCC/SCC+ with size of 40KB (e.g. Antarctic Adventure SCC/SCC+)
- Improved autodetect for Disk-To-ROM games with size of 48KB (e.g. Confused?, Donkey Kong, Spy Vs Spy II)
- Fixed autodetect of Zoids [ASCII/16 KByte, switch address $77F8]
- Extended ROM-Database:
*Alien Syndrome [ASCII/16 KByte]
*Andorogynus [ASCII MegaROM (ASCII/16 KByte) V2]
*Harry Fox MSX Special [Hydlide 2]
*Harry Fox Yki No Maoh [Snow Demon King + patched ASCII/16 KByte]
- Improved autodect for some versions of the following ROMs:
*Aliens 2 (Zemina)
*Barbarian
*Bat Man
*Darwin 4078
*Druid
*Fishing Freak
*Humphrey
*Mon Mon Monster
*ObsoNET (experimental)
*Strategic Mars
*Syougun
*XYZ / Zukkoke Yajikita Onmitsudoutyuu
- Added experimental Dir-as-Disk feature (for MSX-DOS 1). Do not (yet) use together with SCSI or IDE controllers.
- When restoring a save-state "Sprites disabled" mode was sometimes not restored.
- When switching to MSX1 configuration sprites were sometimes permanently invisible.
- Pending SCSI configuration changes were not fully applied on reboot.
- Coincidence of transparent sprites was mistakenly detected.
- "Labirint" is now working (without cheat).
- Fixed bug in debug-log of memory mapper, sometimes refering to the wrong slot.

Une nouvelle beta pour cet émulateur Amiga a été publiée. Voici la liste des changements:
- Custom CPU frequency selection fixed (b1)
- CPU speed adjustment supported in more compatible (prefetch) CPU mode.
- 68020+ speed has changed again. Was also changed in b1.

 Raine v0.91.1
Dimanche 03/05/20 à 14:11 par Firebrand
Une nouvelle version de cet émulateur multi-systèmes a été publiée. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- lots of hex numbers were not identified in the cheats conversion from the xml, much better now (particularly for the masks)
- cheats using watches with loops inside are now supported !
- you could not disable sound, not sure if it was for all drivers but probably. Setting emulate sound = no and then going back to the game was reseting this to yes ! I guess nobody tried to disable the sound for a very long time ! It's fixed, but notice that some games don't like to have sound disabled and you can get errors if you try to do that (in neogeo for example, you get a nice error about the z80 !).

 Raine v0.91
Samedi 02/05/20 à 15:15 par Firebrand
Cet émulateur multi-systèmes a été mis à jour. Les changements portent sur une importante modification des codes de triche:
Yeah yeah I know, 0.90 was supposed to be the last, but there was this mistake about cheats where I forgot the very old cheats.cfg file before realizing it was incredibly outdated...
So here is 0.91, with the xml cheats from mame converted for the raine games. The cheats are included in the binary archives of the emulators, which makes them somewhat bigger (2.2 and 2.4 Mb, which is still very small for archives nowdays !). So thanks go to puggsy and his team for the work around this, I know how long it is to find cheats at least ! I picked the colors idea from them too, I found nice to have off in red and on in green for the cheats interface ! Except that when a cheat needs a parameter, it opens its own dialog which makes a huge difference from what we had before.
There are tons of new cheats, some improve the playability of the game, try those around arkatour, or any arkanoid clone, there is one to choose the ball speed and prevent it from accelerating ever again after that, very useful to train, and you can even choose that you don't loose if you loose the ball ! (which is really the ultimate cheat in this kind of game !). The cheats are in the scripts directory. The neocd games use cheats from the scripts/neocd directory if there are some, but since there are very few there, they use those in scripts/raine if there is nothing. Some games have a different memory map in neocd, but those interested will have to test. The conversion from xml was made by a perl script, it's in the sources in git (bonus directory).
I think that's all there is to say about this one, have fun !
Oh, and there is no cheats.cfg file or neocheats.cfg file anymore because they are not needed anymore !
And I can't guarantee all the cheats will work, because I couldn't possibly test everything, but I can promise most of them will work... !

 Mednafen v1.24.2
Vendredi 01/05/20 à 15:08 par Firebrand
Une nouvelle version de cet émulateur multi-systèmes a été publiée. Voici la liste des changements:
- Fixed broken support for systems without any usable OpenGL implementation available.
- Apple2: Adjust disk angle variable upon disk change, partially sanitize the disk angle variable on state load, and print out a debug error message instead of triggering an assert() in the disk reading code, to prevent Mednafen from aborting out in certain circumstances involving disk changing and state loading.
- Apple2: Added missing keyboard reading variable to save states.
- SS: Fixed a few inaccuracies with the SCSP waveform loop handling.
- SS: Added emulation of SCSP slot short waveform mode bit.
- SS: Implemented the buggy linear interpolation that occurs on the SCSP when FM is used.
- SS: Added emulation of SCSP slot EG bypass bit.
- SS: Implemented SCSP register mirroring.
