 WinUAE v4.10.2 Beta 1
Dimanche 26/02/23 à 15:58 par Firebrand
Et c'est reparti pour une série de beta avec cet émulateur Amiga pour Windows qu'on ne présente plus. Voici la liste des améliorations:
- 1.5M Chip RAM size is now working correctly in all configurations. (Except JIT which does not like non-power of two RAM sizes)
- Added Agnus chip ram max size option to advanced chipset. Can be used to configure larger Chip RAM size than Agnus DMA supported size.
- Added A1000 Denise model selection to advanced chipset (A1000 Denise without EHB and A1000 Denise with EHB). Previously Agnus type was used to select if A1000 Denise features/bugs were emulated. Autoselect = Chipset type selected from chipset panel.
- Removed Agnus blitter busy bug and No-EHB Denise Advanced chipset options. Above Agnus and Denise model selection replaces them.
- If CPU was waiting for chip bus read or write (At least one cycle was stolen from CPU) when debugger was exited or GUI was entered, next CPU chip bus wait cycle was not counted.
- Blitter state is now fully saved even if blitter is in mid-operation. (cycle-accurate modes only). Previously blitter was force-finished if blitter was active when state was saved.
- Copper "overflow" to beginning of next field is now statefile supported.
- Chipset internal delay events are now accurately saved with state files. (Test cases by ross as usual)
- Statefile save exactly when CPU was about to do memory chip bus read or write: restore skipped this pending read or write.
- Updates to CPU state save support. In some situations state save/restore support was not correct and/or not cycle accurate.
- CD32 state was always saved, even when no CD32 features were enabled.
- Fixed LPSTOP instruction (68060 only, Low Power STOP). Broke when STOP instruction emulation was rewritten to match real 68000 behavior. No known Amiga programs use LPSTOP. (4.10.0)
- Level 7 interrupt input event now keeps NMI active until CPU detects it. Previously it only made a short pulse that was unreliable.
- If VPOSW has been written to more than once during single field and writes only modified LOF-bit and later write(s) during same field restored original LOF value: don't recalculate display settings when next field starts. LOF state only affects display during vertical sync and few lines before and after, it can be "safely" modified mid screen (with side-effects in some situations..)
- HAM previously unknown (?) and undocumented feature emulated. If bitplane is active earlier than horizontal border ends, last pixel under the border is HAM decoded normally using bitplane pixel value, it is not decoded using border color.
- In some situations when emulator config was changed on the fly (for example 68000 CE to 68020 non-CE), CPU emulator and other parts of emulator was not configured for new configuration.
- Prometheus PCI bridge PCI config space byte wide access endian swap fix.
- Picasso IV flash rom support. Not very useful because it can't be used to fully "generate" Picasso IV flash ROM image file (like you can do with PPC boards). Official flasher does not update first 16k of flash that contains autoconfig nybbles and loader code and Picasso IV and official updater can't work if it is missing.
- Serial port SERDATR TBE bit was was unreliable in accurate modes. (4.10.0)
- Fixed floppy related bug where initial bit offset becomes negative, causing out of bounds array access (that may or may not cause a random crash).
- Fixed Input panel custom event string to GUI temporary config and from GUI temporary config to active config copying that caused double memory free. (Very old bug).
- On the fly disk check from GUI (for example ? in Quickstart panel), which reads boot and root block and shows disk information, which changed disk rotational position but it wasn't restored.
- Disabled strange ages old german keyboard layout only "#" key hack and changed 2 very rarely, if ever, used, default keys: Amiga key left of backspace which does not exist on any PC keyboards is now mapped to F11. Key left of enter (which only exists on european PC keyboards) is now mapped to correct matching Amiga key. (was previously key left of backspace for some reason). Hack can be optionally restored if there really was some reason for this hack. (I suspect original reason was pre-RawInput Windows 9x/ME DirectInput limit that possibly didn't allow all keys to be read normally).
- Ultra extreme overscan mode now includes blanking regions drawn using grid pattern. Added new HV ultra extreme overscan mode that shows HSYNC, VSYNC, Blank and Borderblank regions. Can be useful when creating/debugging programmed display modes. C mode shows CSYNC pattern, which is accurate enough to correctly handle at least some weird modes by ross
- Added reset warp mode Misc panel option. Reset automatically enables warp mode, first copper DMA activation (KS ROM sets it just before disk/HD boot starts) starts warp mode auto disable countdown. Default is 1 second delay before warp mode disables. warpboot_delay config file entry can be used to change delay value (value in frames). Makes KS ROM hardware initializations almost immediate without affecting compatibility.
- Bring GUI window on top if emulation window gets left mouse button double click or F12 (or configured GUI key) key press and GUI is open. Close GUI if ESC is pressed when GUI is open and emulation window has focus.
- SCSI CD command READ TOC, format type 0 returned invalid data (4.10.1)
- Added button toggle mode (press and release: button gets pressed, press and release again: button gets released) to Game Ports panel autofire mode select menu.
- A600 non-expanded Quickstart RTC selection fixed. RTC should not be selected unless RAM expansion is configured.
- Added missing Picmatic ROMs (European American Laser Games variant). Zorton Brothers and Marbella Vice.
- Added Disable keyboard and Disable game controllers when mouse not captured options to Pri & Extensions panel.
- Game port setting now accepts joyportnameX and/or joyportfriendlynameX= + joyportX=customY simultaneously. This forces custom config Y to be mapped to named controller, ignoring device index value in custom config. Makes it easier to create config files with custom game port settings programmatically.
- Added possibility to have same Game ports panel joystick in more than one joystick port. Config file only currently. Use same config file entries with index number (for example "joyportfriendlyname1_1=")
- Added screen rotation support, to fully support Fast Draw Showdown (American Laser games) game that had 90 degree rotated display.. Direct3D9 mode only so far. Config file only: gfx_rotation=, gfx_rotation=-90 for Fast Draw Showdown.
- Removed Expansion panel CD32 FMV checkbox. It is available via expansion list and needs ROM selection.
- Integer scaling now has 5% (width and height) safety margin before switching to smaller multiplier.
- If programmed mode: do not include scanlines hidden in vertical blank when calculating display size (for integer scaling/autoscale etc)

 SDLMAME v0.252 (M1)
A little late posting this here as I was delaying until I could get Intel builds going, but alas, it’s not working out for me. Next week when I have more time to dedicate, I’ll see what can be done, but it appears as supporting OS X 10.14 and above may be a thing of the past.*

* I do hope I’m wrong.

 Raine v0.95
- This one kept me busy for a few days, the windows version looses time in the conversions between double numbers and ints. It doesn't happen in linux, and I don't know the exact reason, it's probably related to mingw32, but anyway the fix is to merge muparser into raine and change its base type to "unsigned int". The consequence is that float numbers are not recognized anymore in the console, I'll just hope that no script used them, but I don't think any did.
- It goes with a dll update, a few dlls were updated including sdl2, so it's advised to update for all windows users, the new packages are dlls32-0.95.7z for 32 bits and dlls64-0.95.7z for 64 bits.
- The linux version didn't have this problem, but since I don't want to maintain 2 different versions the merge is done there too, and so raine doesn't need muparser to be installed anymore in linux. We get a very small speed improvement in linux too because it allowed me to make a few more optimizations since no type conversion is needed anymore now.
- Except that there were a few small bug fixes for the recent 0.94.12b, but the really big thing is the merge of muparser inside raine and the gain of speed it brings.

 MAME v0.252 (64-bit)
Mercredi 22/02/23 à 15:40 par Firebrand
Après deux mois d'absence, une nouvelle version de MAME a été publiée. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
After almost two months, we’re ready to release MAME 0.252, the first MAME release of 2023! As promised, there are some big updates, and some of them may require you to make a few adjustments to your MAME setups. In particular, the modules MAME uses to handle input and output (e.g. video, sound and controllers) have been cleaned up, fixing lots of bugs and resource leaks.
First of all, the BGFX video module has had a serious overhaul. Numerous issues affecting artwork rendering have been fixed, and toggling full-screen mode no longer crashes. MAME now saves many BGFX video settings to your CFG files for each emulated system.
Game controller handling has also been overhauled. The downside is that you may need to reconfigure inputs for MAME. The upside is that things should work better out-of-the-box, with better default input assignments for more controllers:
- For Windows users, more XInput controllers are fully supported, including guitars, the DJ Hero turntable, and the Rock Band keyboard.
- For people using SDL builds, like our lovely macOS and Linux users, there’s a brand new joystick input module using the SDL game controller API. This gives consistent assignments for popular gamepads, and allows you to supply your own button and axis assignment schemes if the defaults don’t suit you. If want the old behaviour, it’s still available: just set the joystickprovider setting to sdljoy in your mame.ini file.
- For everyone, it should be easier to navigate MAME’s UI using a game controller, and MAME should choose better default game input assignments for more gamepads.
Of course, we haven’t stopped working on emulation. Newly supported systems include the NABU PC (a Canadian 8-bit home computer and cable network terminal), the I-Star Chess King (a Taiwanese hand-held chess computer of dubious quality), Computer Othello (one of Nintendo’s earliest video games), YoYo Spell (a prototype of the arcade game Little Robin), the very rare English language version of SegaSonic Cosmo Fighter (dumped from the unit previously operated at Sega World Sydney), and Saturn: Space Fighter 3D (a Space Invaders variant from Data East).
The MSX updates haven’t stopped: this release includes support for MSX-DOS2 and RAM expansion cartridges. The Hyper Neo Geo 64 has had some welcome fixes for both 2D and 3D graphics, and there should be more coming in the next release. At the other end of the spectrum, Apple II video has seen a number of improvements, and somewhere in between, S3 ViRGE reached a point where 256-colour mode works in Windows 98.
That’s all we have time for here, but you can read about the whole two months’ worth of changes in the whatsnew.txt file, or download the source code and 64-bit Windows binary packages from the download page.

 Raine v0.94.12b
Mardi 21/02/23 à 16:04 par Firebrand
Des correctifs ont été apportés dans cette nouvelle version de cet émulateur multi-systèmes. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
Mostly for using SLASH[0] instead of '/' to separate directories otherwise it isn't compatible with windows, but except that I had the time for :
- Fixed a few stupid segfaults in the console due to the recent script changes
- I had forgotten to include some cheat file for the new kof2002 clone, it's fixed.
- while I was at it I added an experimental script to block the selection timer in kof97 since it seems it's impossible to find an ips which doesn't conflict with the training mode to do it. It works, but once you have selected your character you must disable the script otherwise the game will never start !

 Rosalie's Mupen GUI v0.3.7
Lundi 20/02/23 à 15:54 par Firebrand
Deux nouvelle version ont été publiées consécutivement pour ce frontend dédié à mupen64plus. Voici la liste de nouveautés:
v0.3.7:
- Fix icons not showing up in some cases when migrating from a version before v0.3.6
- Fix plugin settings not being loaded properly in the settings dialog when migrating from a version before v0.3.6

v0.3.6:
- Fix RMG not using xwayland when using wayland (wayland has lots of issues, can be disabled by building with the -DFORCE_XCB=OFF option)
- Fix some non-fatal mupen64plus errors showing a pop-up
- Fix window not returning to ROM browser when launching a game through the commandline and the plugins aren't ready
- Add support for Qt stylesheets (place them in the /Styles directory with the .qss extension, they'll show up in Themes)
- Add "Icon Theme" setting
- Add "Speed Factor" to System menu bar
- Add support for re-ordering columns in the list view of the ROM browser (thank you @RetraCarteR)
- Add AppImage to github releases (this replaces the old portable linux builds on github releases)
- NOTE: if you're using a portable linux build from before this release, the updater will break, you'll have to manually download the AppImage and use that instead!

 Raine v0.94.12
Lundi 20/02/23 à 15:47 par Firebrand
Une nouvelle version de cet émulateur multi-systèmes a été publiée, sauf dans sa version Linux 64-bit qui arrivera peut-être plus tard. Les améliorations sont le suivantes:
- Yeah this version is mainly about the support of these ips files found on the net, the best source so far was found by mer-curious, see his topic on the subject in the forum if you are interested. So the dat files and the ips must be placed in an ips directory that raine will create next time you run it, or you can create it yourself (for linux it's in ~/.raine/ips ). The format is the one already used by these packs of dat files you can find on the net, subdirectories with the short name of the game containing the dat files + ips files related. A word of caution : it's the crazy bootleg world, some patches are not stable alone, and you add to the risk if you enable more than one, raine will warn you about conflicts it finds while applying the patches though.
- So the 2 ways to apply them are through the command "preload ips dat file" which appears at the top of the main menu if no game has been loaded. It opens a file selector where you can select any dat file you want to add for a particular game in the ips directory. Your choice is saved in this same ips directory in an ini file with the short name of the game. You can either return to this function later to uncheck the dat files you chose if you don't want them anymore or just delete the ini file. Raine will check for conflicts when you load the corresponding game and will warn about them at the end of loading.
- And the other is once the game is loaded, it can be applied only to code roms, from ips files only, not dat files, and it works only when the rom patched is in the right format, it's very specific and it was the only thing I wanted to add at first before being convinced to add the rest.
- Except these ips features, you'll find :
*a new kof2002 clone, kf2k5uni which was mainly added to test an ips dat file... !
*a new setting to choose to have the profiler (f11 key) to display its % based on sdl2 performance counters instead of the rdtsc. It's a good option if the frequency of your cpu changes all the time, it's a good try if you have doubts about the results anyway.
*a new script command : stop, see help in the console for details.

 Raine v0.94.11
Vendredi 17/02/23 à 16:16 par Firebrand
Cet émulateur multi-systèmes a été mis à jour. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- daioh displays correctly its controls in the gui, and not as a 6 buttons fighting game anymore
- update for the turbo key (DEL by default) : it was still displaying the fps as an int when it has been a float for years now, so its display was totally wrong, it now displays the fps reached while the speed was unlimited, and opengl is temporary disabled when using this so that the speed can is not limited by the video hardware.
- fix bad color for the status bar in the cheats dialog when there is a message...
- fix for a crash in 32 bits, it happened in linux, but it could happen in windows too, it was a stack misalignment because starscream uses 4 bytes boundaries and the SSE functions in sdl2 require 16 bytes boundaries (which is huge !). There is a function attribute to fix that, so it's fixed simply but it was hard to find.

Except that on scripts :
- you can now make hidden scripts which don't show in the gui dialog. It's useful only if you want to start it like you would call a procedure in a high level language by using the start_script command. It allows to move a block from a script there. It's more an experiment, I find the thing hard to use, but it was easy to make, so I keep it in case it's useful one day. Just replace the "script" command by "hidden", same arguments, same syntax, it just doesn't appear in the gui.
- Better error messages : I added the error messages at lightning speed, but there were case where they were really not very helpful. Now you can see which script triggered the error, in which section and what line. And if it's in a run: section, the script is stopped to avoid an endless loop of errors !
- poke extension, can use a string of any length as the value to poke, the string must be enclosed between ' ' or " ", there is a foum post with an example, and it's in use in the xmcotar1d script (Console script).
- The big optimization of the scripts : they now preserve their parsed result to avoid to redo the stuff in each frame. Now I got some very strange behavior from windows and I still didn't understand everything here, but windows execution appears slower than linux for some reason (see the script cpu load in the Misc section of the profile display, f11 key). The 64 bits binary seems ok, I am not totally sure about the 32 bits binary, I saw it working well, but not always ! I don't know what triggers this slowdown, maybe with time I'll have more ideas. What I can say is that even when it works at its best, it's still slower than the linux version, I get 2% only in Misc while the console script is in startup (when you just start it), even with a non optimized debug build ! So see by yourself, your results might vary.
