 MESS et MESSUI v0.240 (64-bit)

Ces builds de MAME ne comportant les machines d'arcade ont été mis à jour vers MAME v0.240. Cependant, l'auteur nous apprend que l'avenir de MESSUI (et peut-être MAMEUI?) n'est peut-être pas assuré à moyen terme:
Please note that a new bug was noticed just as I was about to upload the new versions. If you enter rubbish via the command line, it will freeze. For example, trying to run a non-existing game might give an error-message box and then hang, or it might do nothing at all. I don't know when this started, but I assume something changed in MAME.

As you might (or might not) know, before MESS and MAME were merged, MESS was a separate project, and both MESS and MESSUI were officially supported products. In order for certain things in MESSUI to work, support was included in MESS. When all this was merged with MAME, that winui support came across too. Unfortunately, certain devs are either ignorant of apparently unused functions, or don't care, and have been busily ripping out support in the name of pointless refactoring. One such case occurred this month when the entire support of software was ripped out, involving over 200 files. I had to revert this change for our builds, which means it is no longer possible for you to compile by patching the MAME source. You must now pull to the tag.

I am unsure how much longer our builds will be able to work against current MAME in the future. I'd give it a year or two at most. Just keeping you people in the loop.

As lunar new year draws near and we approach a quarter of a century since Nicola Salmoria released MAME to the public, it’s time for MAME 0.240 – the first release of the 2022 calendar year. Wait, what was that? A quarter of a century? Yes, on 5 February, it will be twenty-five years since MAME 0.1 was released, supporting just five Z80-based games. MAME is coming up to its silver jubilee! And what a long way we’ve come…
This month, we’ve added support for dozens more versions of the Igrosoft five-reel slot machines. But buried in there are the remaining versions of Nintendo Game & Watch series games (rare versions of Helmet, Judge and Mario’s Cement Factory), two more Elektronika games based on Nintendo programs, a German version of Exidy’s Mouse Trap, and the incredibly rare Mahjong Block Jongbou 2 from SNK.
In the software lists, there are a whole pile of recently dumped prototypes of console games, and some homebrew titles for the Bandai RX-78. That’s on top of the steady stream of Apple II floppies, Commodore 64 cassettes, FM Towns CDs, and newly supported NES and Famicom cartridges. Building on the work last month, the CD-i has received a few more fixes that improve performance and add support for more discs.

Ce gestionnaire de ROMs a ét émis à jour. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
This is a big update for DATVault users, now means DATVault can support suggested DIR's for each new DAT. That means TOSEC can be downloaded into the TOSEC recommended DIR structure directly from DATVault!
There are a few other quality of life bug/improvements also. As always you can download this latest version from the link over on the left.
(TOSEC DATs will be added to DATVault in the next few days.)

- Added a progress bar for DATVault initial data load
- Added a new sortable DATVault column for uncompressed size of DAT contents
- Added a new default DAT directory feature to DATVault to help people quickly add new DATs using the most common organization approaches

Oui, encore de nouvelles versions de ces frontends multi-systèmes, mais cette fois on connait les changements apportés:
- New Marquee display feature. Display maarquee and logo images on secondary display. Pretty much plug n play with few settings. Just enable in the setup wizard. If you wish to use images other than logos for emulators set the gameextender custom images folder for each emulator. This feature uses and enables gameextender and optrmizes gameextender viewer for local display.

La dernière release de MAME pour 2021 est arrivée. Voici ce qu'elle propose:
Did you think we’d let 2021 finish without a parting MAME release? MAME 0.239 is here, just in time for the new year. This release includes a fix for many subtle and not-so-subtle sound and music timing issues in games using Yamaha FM synthesis chips. The frame rate for Gaelco games has been adjusted to satisfy some wily protection checks, fixing crashes when continuing in Thunder Hoop and graphical issues in Squash. A big update for Philips CD-i emulation just made it in for this release, greatly improving the experience in a lot of games. Nintendo Famicom Disk System emulation has also seen some improvements this month.
This release is packed with even more Soviet re-skins of the Game & Watch Egg program, the latest Apple II dumps and cracks, another batch of Commodore 64 cassettes, and more exotic NES and Famicom cartridges. Milan Galcik, who’s been busy with the Elektronika hand-held games, has also completed a Slovak UI translation and updated the neglected Czech translation. Both genuine and cloned Apple II systems have had emulation updates this month, with a number of unique VTech Laser and Franklin ACE features now supported, and performance improvements for the Apple IIgs.

Ce gestionnaire de ROMs a été mis à jour. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
Feature Updates:
- Added a new tree pre-set feature to allow the user to save different tree selection/expansion favorites
- Added a progress bar for DATVault updates
- Added an instance count column to the ROM details grid
- Added a popup to show a dupe list on click of a instance count value
- Added the ability to read -listroms output from the RAINE executable
- Added an ESC keyboard shortcut to close dialog windows
- Added the ability to sort any of the columns in the ROM details grid
- Enhanced the DATVault groups filter to a redesigned and categorized tree
- Enhanced the Directory Rules window to be more intuitive with reorganized settings and additional tooltip content
- Enhanced the directory rule application so only relevant DATs are reprocessed upon update
- Enhanced the display of ROM sizes by using separator characters and right justified values in the fixing log and ROM details grid
- Changed the default directory rule to use “Nothing” as the merge type instead of “Split”
- Changed the filename cleansing to be less aggressive and only trim whitespace (requires a full DAT refresh)
- Changed the tree behavior so that updated DATs are no longer auto-selected in the tree
- Changed the menu bar order and keyboard shortcuts for consistency with the left buttons
- Removed the ability to cancel a DAT update/refresh

Bug Fixes:
- Fix for a crash that could occur when selecting the “Show Merged ROMs” filter
- Fix to make the gray merged ROM status show properly for split sets
- Fix for a display issue where corrupt archive icons are only displayed at levels above the directory where the corrupt archive resides
- Fix to prevent DATs with no ROMs from being auto-expanded and auto-selected in the tree
- Fix to the missing counts in the tree and summary panes to exclude ROMs with a blue status
- Fix for launching ROMs directly from the game list grid
- Fix to prevent the ROM details grid from auto-scrolling back to the top of the list every few seconds during a fix
- Fix to properly handle case sensitive directory renames during a fix
- Fix to prevent a “Rescan needed” error if the only fix is to correct the character case of the ROM and source of the fix was in the same archive
- Fix for a scenario that could cause a scan to silently end early and erase subsequent items in that directory from the cache
- Fix to properly scan files with invalid timestamps
- Fix to properly handle scanning files with incompatible permissions, which were previously skipped with no indication
- Fix to prevent a crash and cache out-of-sync scenario if a file is in use by another process during a fix
- Fix to prevent a “Zip64EndOfCentralDirError” if the total number of disks is equal to zero in the central directory of the ZIP archive (Invalid… but extractable)
- Fix to prevent a “Specified argument was out of the range of valid values” error which could sometimes occur during a fix
- Fix so that Single Archive settings work properly if the DAT is not in its own folder
- Fix to make Single Archive settings work properly with ROMs that have a double extension (E.g *.iso.dec)
- Fix to use a move operation instead of copy/delete when uncompressed sets are renamed using the Single Archive option
- Fix to properly save and read DatVault login information on Linux
- Fix to make the side icons visible on Linux

Ces frontends multi-systèmes ont été mis à jour. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- This version moves GameEx, GameEx Arcade Edition and most of the libraries to .net 6 (Previously .net core). The reason is simple – significant performance improvements. It even starts up in less than half the time for an initial install.
- Windows 7 and greater 64 bit is supported.
- It can run along side the regular release of GameEx and GameEx as long as installed in a different folder.
- GameEx – “Just play your games”.
- This release also features optimized anf fadter Emumovies artwork downloading for all versions.
