Un correctif a été apporté à la dernière version qui permettait de faire tourner la ROM prototype de Dinosaur Planet, qui n'a jamais vu le jour sur Nintendo 64 mais sur GameCube en tant que (l'excellent) Star Fox Adventures. Pour avoir essayé, c'était totalement injouable vu qu'on touchait une fois sur trente lors des combats: la version corrigée est à télécharger d'urgence si vous voulez tester le prototype:
- Just a small fix for Dinosaur Planet that was affecting the player's ability to hit enemies.

De nouvelles versions de ces builds de MAME dépourvus des machines d'arcade ont été publiées. Voici leurs améliorations spécifiques (valables aussi pour MAMEUI):
- Executable names drop the "64" suffix.
- The hack that saved slider values on exit has been removed. This is because the slider code was refactored and the result was not compatible with the hack.
- Fixed a problem with the pluginspath which could cause plugin errors in certain circumstances.
- Fixed a problem where category files could not be found in certain win10 setups (MESS only)

La nouvelle version de MAME vient d'arriver à l'heure prévue. Les nouveautés du mois sont les suivantes:
It’s been an eventful month, culminating in the release of MAME 0.229 today. One change that you’ll notice straight away is that the “64” suffix is no longer added to the file name for 64-bit versions of MAME. If you’re unsure, you can see the data model at the end of the window title.
One very elusive Argentinian title has finally made it into MAME this month. We’re very proud to present Ms PacMan Twin, an extensive hack of Ms. Pac-Man with simultaneous two-player cooperative gameplay. Another rarity you can now experience is Midway’s unreleased Power Up Baseball – the NBA Jam of baseball. On the topic of prototypes, Wayne Gretzky’s 3D Hockey Fatality Edition is now supported.
Several TV games for preschool age children from JAKKS Pacific’s Sharp Cookie line have been dumped and emulated, featuring popular characters like Dora the Explorer, Scooby-Doo, Spider-Man and Thomas the Tank Engine. Travelling back a little, Mattel’s representations of Basketball, Hockey, Soccer, and Tag as electronic toys are now supported. Elektronika Autoslalom has arrived from Russia (with love). Another batch of JPM IMPACT fruit machines have been promoted to working this month, making use of new artwork engine features for their internal layouts.
Updates to the Win32 and Qt debuggers add a context menu to debugger views with an option to copy visible text to the clipboard, improve behaviour when views are scrolled to the bottom, and fix a crash when right-clicking some memory views. We’re lucky enough to have received another shader update from cgwg, improving the appearance of the popular crt-geom and crt-geom-deluxe effects. We’ve added support for the NEC/Renesas V850 family to unidasm.

Cet émulateur Amiga pour Windows qu'on ne présente plus a été mis à jour. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- OSD led status bar positioning fixed (b16)
- OSD led status bar is now DPI aware. (NOTE: moving window from monitor to another monitor with different DPI does not yet work correctly)
- BPLCON0 UHRES-bit also disables DDFSTRT/STOP limits according to Alice schematics.
- Sprites in right border were still not fully correct when they crossed "hidden" hpos=0 position. Sprite didn't disappear if start position was after hpos=0 wraparound and sprite wrap around if it started just before hpos=0 stopped too early, last few pixels were missing before start of hblank. (Thanks ross for test program)
- One more blitter fix, last D write was done even if blit didn't have D channel enabled.
- CPU Idle slider value added to GUI. (It was not very clear which end of slider disabled it)
- Loading CD32 statefile with CD audio playback active: mute state was not always correctly restored.
- Loading CD32 statefile with CD audio playback active but paused: pause state was ignored.
- Loading CDTV statefile with CD audio playback active but paused: very short bit of audio was played before audio paused.
- Added "Restart emulation" input target. Does same as GUI "Restart" button.
- Reverted few b1 bitplane emulation changes. Complete rewrite will be planned for later because current emulation behavior is not really correct when compared against Alice schematics.

Ce très bon émulateur PC-Engine a été mis à jour. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- "For Video Caputure Mode" has been added to the "Screen-> Mode" menu. You can switch the Ootake's window to 480p or 720p size for easy viewing with a single touch. If you capture with this sharp screen size when using video capture software, you can upload with high image quality when uploading to YouTube etc. In this mode, the "Screen-> Remove Lag 1F" menu setting is automatically disabled(0F), reducing the load when using the video capture software. If you want to prioritize input-lag measures, you can manually re-enable (the operation of the video capture software will be considerably slower) it. It can also be used in full screen mode. 1080p can also be selected in full screen.
- Fixed a bug that Ootake does not recognize when connecting an XInput compatible game controller due to the PC environment (when a connecting driver for the PS4 controller was installed, a pad that can be used by switching between XInput and DirectInput, etc.).
- If you change the connection of a game controller such as USB while Ootake is running, Ootake will recognize the change immediately.
- In window mode, when switching the overscan area display of the screen with the [F11] key or [F12] key, the sound that continued to sound during screen switching was temporarily muted so that it can be switched comfortably.
- The width of the window size has been changed from a multiple of 299 to a multiple of 298. When capturing and encoding video, you can encode while maintaining the image quality. By the way, depending on the PC environment and capture software, Ootake's operation may be heavy and processing may drop. In that case, if you select the "Screen-> Mode-> for Video Capture Mode" menu, the processing will be lighter and you will be able to capture smoothly.
- The operation speed and timing have been brought closer to the operation of the actual machine. In the stage 2 of "Parodius Da!", the problem that the clown's position flickers one line at the bottom of the screen (occurred from recent versions) has been resolved. In "The Tower of Druaga", the problem that some parts of BGM started to sound late has been solved on the hint screen of Ishtar of "After clearing the stage".
- Improved so that the processing does not become heavy even in "games with many readings of the state of the game pad" such as "Space Harrier".
- The "Screen-> Remove Lag Max 3F" menu has little effect on Windows 10, and even before Win8, this menu(3F) is no longer necessary by setting the driver (rendering frame buffer is 1), so 3F menu was abolished (because processing becomes heavy if it is set to 3F).
- At Ootake v2.99, in "Tokimeki Memorial", when the sprite missing display setting (CPU-> Perform SpriteLimit) is turned on or the overscan area is displayed ([F12] key), dust that is sometimes displayed on the left and right edges of the screen (probably used as a data area) was not accurate. This time, it became the same as the actual machine.
- "Customize bram & mb128 Folder" has been added to the "File" menu. if you check "Same location as the save folder", the locations of "bram folder (for saving backup save files)" and "mb128 folder (for saving MB128 save files)" is set inside the "save" folder. Place the "save" folder on a network drive and use it when you want to share save data with multiple PCs.
- Other minor parts have been corrected and improved.

Le coup de pied dans la fourmilière de l'émulation Nintendo 64, qui n’avançait pas tant que cela ces derniers temps, qu'on attendait est probablement arrivé.Les prémices prometteuses sont désormais accessible au public dans cette nouvelle version. ares supporte le moteur de rendu ParaLLEl-RDP qui n'était auparavant intégré qu'à RetroArch. L'émulateur sera aussi plus gourmand en ressources que ce à quoi la concurrence nous a habitué. Certes, la compatibilité n'est que de 33% et il reste beaucoup de travail mais le projet est à suivre de très près. Voici les explications de l'auteur:
I'm excited to launch ares v118 today, the first release featuring playable, full-speed Nintendo 64 emulation!

The new Nintendo 64 emulation is made possible thanks to Themaister very graciously porting his Vulkan-based ParaLLEl-RDP graphics renderer to ares. With its default settings, it is nearly pixel-perfect to real hardware, and it optionally supports upscaling to 2x or 4x the original Nintendo 64 resolution, plus optional supersampling back down to the original resolution (for enhanced anti-aliasing) if desired. The Vulkan support requires an appropriate graphics card, and either Windows or Linux. At this time, Vulkan is not available for macOS nor the BSDs.

Also new for the Nintendo 64 core in this release is Rumble Pak, Cartridge Pak, SRAM, EEPROM, and Flash save support. Note that for right now, the Rumble Pak will only be enabled for games which use internal saves (SRAM, EEPROM, and Flash.) That does not cover all Rumble Pak-capable games. The option to choose between Rumble Paks and Cartridge Paks will be added to a future release.

For the PlayStation core, Luke Usher provided two rendering fixes that allow Final Fantasy VII and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater to be fully playable!

Right now, approximately 33% of the Nintendo 64 library is fully playable, and about 67% of the PlayStation library is fully playable. Each core has only been under active development for about one month each, so they both have a long way to go. Please treat these early releases as tech samples, rather than finished emulation cores.

Further, note that the Nintendo 64 and PlayStation cores employ cached interpreters. This is a middle-ground between the accuracy of interpreters and the performance of dynamic recompilers. As such, ares' system requirements will be a bit higher than traditional emulators for these systems. Presuming no background task interference or CPU throttling, generally speaking, a Ryzen 5 2600 or better CPU should get you to around ~120fps in the average case, and ~60fps in the worst case.
