Le MAME mensuel est arrivé! Voici ce qu'il nous propose cette fois:
You know what day it is? It’s MAME 0.202 release day! This month’s release is chock full of new versions of previously supported games. We’ve added the Japanese releases of Namco’s Four Trax, and Taito’s Midnight Landing, the European release of Kaneko’s Gals Panic 4, a very rare unprotected version of Orca’s River Patrol, a version of Cinematronics’ Star Castle for cocktail cabinets, and a newer version of Konami’s WEC Le Mans 24. Perhaps the most interesting new version of an arcade game to be added is the final release version of Sega’s Toki no Senshi – Chrono Soldier. It turns out the previously-supported set was a somewhat unfinished prototype.
Improvements include more supported drawing modes for PlayStation and PowerVR2 (NAOMI/Dreamcast), fewer graphical glitches in Super Shanghai Dragon’s Eye, and fixes for sprite priority in Beast Busters and Pac- Land. The CRT simulation shaders now correctly apply the defocus effect after the scanline effect. Possibly the most exciting progress this month is in UNIX workstation emulation. InterPro networking is now supported, and it’s now possible to install and run SunOS 4.1.4 on emulated sun4c systems including the SunView graphical environment.
There are plenty more reasons to update, including more Apple II fixes, enough fixes to make the Jugend+Technik CompJU+TEr usable, further progress on NEC PC- FX sound emulation, and another supported US NeoGeo MVS BIOS. Oh, and if you’re a fan of gambling games, Lucky Ball 96 from Sielcon Games in Argentina is now playable.

Le coucou suisse qu'est normalement MAME a visiblement besoin d'être remonté car c'est le deuxième mois consécutif que la nouvelle version est en retard par rapport au planning habituel. En attendant, Robbert publie l'ensemble de ses builds millésimés v0.202. Aucun changement spécifique n'est à signaler pour cette version d'ARCADE.

Une nouvelle beta pour WinUAE a été publiée. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- Video recording from hardware emulated graphics boards recorded only black screen.
- Screenshot from hardware emulated graphics boards always captured visible output even if capture before filtering was ticked.
- Filter panel (D3D) scanlines work now properly in multimonitor mode. (Previously native/RTG selection was ignored)
- Taking screenshot/recording when in multithreaded RTG mode was not thread safe.
- x86 bridgeboard category move broke SCSI and IDE x86 expansions. Sound Blaster and NIC was not moved.
- x86 bridgeboard virtual serial mouse connected serial port was not reset at reboot.
- A2386SX bridgeboard chipset EMS banking emulation was not complete, chipset native EMS driver complained about invalid hardware.
- Creating state file when disk access was active and disk image included timing information (for example ipf) caused buffer overflow.
- Autoload checkbox was hidden under string field in Advanced information panel.
- Added untested ADKCON MSBSYNC disk synchronization mode support.

 GameEx Evolution v1.01

La nouvelle génération de GameEx en gestation depuis déjà longtemps vient de faire ses premières apparitions. Toujours aussi peu bavard, l'auteur ne donne pas vraiment d'information sur les différences avec les versions existantes si ce n'est qu'il l'a refait à partir de zéro, mais avec l'expérience acquise durant les années de développement de GameEx. La version actuelle est encore considérée comme une beta. A tester si vous aimiez les précédentes versions.
Ces dernières ne sont d'ailleurs pas abandonnées car de nouvelles mises à jour ont été publiée, sans qu'on sache ce qui a été modifié.

Une nouvelle beta pour cet émulateur Amiga a été publiée. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- Search clear ("X" button) didn't store new empty search filter to registry/ini.
- Delete config file confirmation message includes also name of config file.
- Added history list to config file name edit box. New item is only added when emulation is started.
- Reduced config file list redraw flickering when searching/filtering.
- Always force 32-bit if Direct3D 11 mode. 16-bit does not seem to be fully supported, screenmode may open but then some later allocation can fail, making recovery difficult (because you can't easily find out if the problem was 16-bit or something else). RTG "Match color depth" option is now also ignored in D3D11 mode.
- Added support for loading file contents to Z2/Z3 RAM boards (autoconfig or manually configured). Append offset=,fileoffset=,filesize=,file= to fastmemx_options line. Append readonly to make it ROM. Path must be escaped (\ = \\).
- Moved all x86 bridgeboard-only expansions under new category "x86 bridgeboard expansions".
- CD image mounting used original path, when it should have used resolved path (win32.cd_path, environmental variables, etc..) (401b4)

Un des meilleurs émulateurs GameBoy/GameBoy Color a été mis à jour. Il est désormais dipsonible en version 64-bit. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- Greatly improved accuracy, including pinball deluxe/fantasies, japanese crystal, koro dice, and many test roms
- speedrun mode
- recovery save state
- mappable button to start/stop recording audio/video
- setting to not break on invalid opcode, instead hang as in reality
- Made available a 64 bits version
- MBC1 multicart (MBC1M) support
- Improvements to debugger, including undo rom edits, ctrl+tab changes active control.
- Fixed many bugs

Un bug s'était glissé dans la précédente version de cet émulateur Super Nintendo qui provoquait des crashes aux nouveaux utilisateurs. Cette mauvaise surprise a été corrigée:
- uVSthem identified a crashing bug that only affected first-time users who never used any previous bsnes-mcfly version: a regression meant that the program would not define a default profile and would thus only work if the user already used a previous bsnes-mcfly version.

Une nouvelle version de ce fork de BSNES a été publiée. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- The “bsnes-accuracy.dll” file has been renamed to “bsnes-accuracy-compatibility.dll” to clarify that both the Accuracy and Compatibility profiles are included in the same file. That filename is 32 characters long, so if anyone has a problem getting it to work, tell me and I'll revert the change.
- bsnes-mcfly now outputs .cht files that are compatible with bsnes v107 and Snes9x 1.56, so you shouldn't lose your cheats as you switch between emulators. However, in order to maintain feature parity with bsnes v073, bsnes-mcfly needs to remember which cheats are Game Genie cheats and which ones are not, so it outputs an additional cheat file with the .gg extension in order to keep track. In a gamepak (cartridge folder), the bsnes-compatible cheat file is stored in cheats.bml in the root of the folder, while the Game Genie cheat file is stored in bsnes-mcfly/cheats.bml.
- One flaw of this method is that, if you change any cheats in bsnes or Snes9x, those changes won't be visible in bsnes-mcfly, and they will be erased when bsnes-mcfly is closed. I'll need to refine this method in the future.
- Now, there's something I want to discuss regarding audio:
*bsnes v073 did not perform any pitch correction when using Fast Forward. That meant that the audio's pitch would increase with its tempo instead of spending additional CPU time trying to retain the pitch. bsnes-mcfly tries to recreate the effect in order to look and sound like bsnes v073, but it's not perfect. I have to temporarily set the frequency in Emulator::audio to double the normal rate (48000Hz to 96000Hz for example) when using Fast Forward.
*But when I do, the XAudio 2.1 driver crashes. I don't know why that is or why the other Windows audio drivers are not also affected, so unfortunately, I need to disable this code when using XAudio 2.1. Furthermore, this makes it impossible to adjust the emulation speed to Slowest, Slow, Fast, or Fastest. The problem is vexing, as this represents a lost bsnes v073 feature when using the XAudio 2.1 driver.
