You know what day it is? It’s MAME 0.226 day! A lot has happened in this development cycle, and plenty of it is worth getting excited about! First of all, there’s a change that affects all systems with keyboard inputs, including most computers. MAME now allows you to activate and deactivate keyboard and keypad inputs per emulated device in the Keyboard Mode menu. When a system has multiple keyboards (for example a computer with a terminal connected to a serial port), you can choose which keyboard you want to type on rather than effectively typing on all the keyboards at once. If a system has multiple devices with keyboard inputs, MAME will start with only one enabled by default. Sadly, MAME doesn’t have mind-reading capabilities yet, so it may not always choose the keyboard you want to type on. If you find you can’t type on an emulated computer, check that the right keyboard is enabled in the Keyboard Mode menu.
Another batch of layout/artwork system updates are ready this month. More image formats are supported, several long-standing alignment and clipping bugs have been fixed, more parameter animation features are available, and external artwork loads faster. Lots of systems using built-in layouts look prettier, but Cosmo Gang probably shows the biggest improvement in this release (yes, the electromechanical redemption game). Try it out in MAME 0.226, and maybe do a before/after comparison to see how far we’ve come.
Apple II systems have seen some significant development this month. Firstly, a number of issues with demos using raster split effects have been fixed. The Apple II has no hardware support for raster effects, so these demos rely on open bus read behaviour to work out what the video hardware is doing. Getting this to work requires precise emulation of memory access timings. Secondly, two parallel printer cards are now working: Orange Micro’s popular Grappler+ and Apple’s Parallel Interface Card. The Grappler+ is well-supported by Apple II software and provides a better out-of-the-box experience if you want to try one of them.
Sega’s Tranquillizer Gun was a somewhat ambitious title for 1980, but was largely overlooked at the time. It’s finally fully emulated in MAME, with audio emulation and protection simulation being added in this release. We’ve also added support for Must Shoot TV, an unreleased prototype developed at Incredible Technologies. Step into the shoes of disgruntled ITS Cable employee Chuck and go on a rampage!
Far more has been added this month than we can cover in detail here, like another batch of TV games (including several Vs Maxx titles), support for Mattel Aquarius CAQ format cassette images, and working Sega Mega Play games. Plusieurs mises à jour pour cet ensemble réunissant un émulateur Nintendo 64, un frontend et un plugin graphique ont été publiées. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- One of the most frequently requested features: an auto updater, is here! You're not going to notice anything this time, but the next time an update is available, you'll see this when you launch the emulator:
- Clicking yes will download the auto updater, close the emulator, extract the new version, and relaunch the emulator. This is a very new feature, so the next time you use it, if you run into bugs, please let me know.

- This releases contains a fix for some Mayflash adapters. Some of these adapters didn't work properly in the controller profile configuration wizard. Mayflash adapters still won't work with the "Auto" profile, they need a custom profile created.
- Also, sometimes the controller profile wizard wouldn't work after playing a game, this has been corrected.

- This release contains a fix for a very pesky bug on the Windows version that would sometimes make the emulator crash when starting a game. This bug was related to the input plugin, fixing it involved re-writing how the input settings are stored. Thus, all input settings will be wiped on start, you'll need to re-create any input profiles you had.

Deux mises à jour de cet ensemble comprenant l'émulateur mupen64plus, un frontend et un plug-in graphique ont été publiée rapidement, la deuxième comportant des correctifs. Voici de quoi il s'agit:
Apologies for the back-to-back releases. As mentioned, a large amount of the underlying GUI code has been re-written. I found some last minute bugs that are addressed in this release. No reason to upgrade if you aren't having issues with the GUI
- Known Issues: Sometimes the emulator will crash when launching a game in Windows. As best I can tell this seems to be a bug related to Qt. I'm hoping the next minor release of Qt will address the issue, if it doesn't I'll need to come up with an alternative solution.

- Performance improvements for Smash Bros and Smash Remix
- Netplay packets are tagged for QoS on Linux (Windows guide is here:
- Under the hood code improvements to GUI
- Paths for core/plugins and emulator config no longer get hard coded into the config. There are new macros, $APP_PATH$ and $CONFIG_PATH$ that are put into the config file. This allows for better portability.

Changing the Config Dir Path to $APP_PATH$ allows for a portable build, which will put the emulator configs in the same directory as the EXE, instead of the users AppData/Roaming folder.
Given the large amount of code that has been re-written for the GUI, bugs are possible.

Une nouvelle beta pour cet émulateur Amiga a été publiée. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- Fixed CV64/3D 3D vertical clipping. Fixes at least warptest corruption when test texture goes out of screen vertically.
- Fixed CV64 and CV64/3D weird behavior (pauses, possible "hpos" error dialog) due to interrupt triggering being called from a thread.
- Fixed possible crash if hardware mouse pointer was very near to end of VRAM.
- Debugger TO, Te and Tf didn't fully use current mmmu mapping mode. (For example TO output was corrupted if system was A3000 with loaded superkickstart)
- x86 bridgeboard VGA display stopped updating every time display when mode changed. (b1)

Previously known issues: CGX + Warp 3D: no textures (reason unknown, 3D part of Virge is not accessed at all when running warptest if texturing is enabled but is accessed normally if texturing is disabled). JIT direct + hardware RTG mode = glitches.

WinUAE s'offre encore une nouvelle beta. Voici les améliorations du jour:
- If ADF started with 4 first bytes of executable (0x000003f3), it was mounted as a bootable executable. Even if it was disk image and too large to fit in 880k image. Exe mounting is now only done if size is smaller than 880k and file extension is not known disk image extension. (B.A.T. II disk #4)
- Read random data also if disk image is inserted, drive is selected but motor is stopped. Previously random data was only returned if drive was empty.
- CV64/3D 15/16/24-bit graphics glitch fix (b4 debugging code)
- CV64/3D emulated chip model was wrong, fixes WarpTest in perspective correct mode.

CV64/3D + Picasso96 + Warp3D stuff sort of works. CV64/3D + CGX4 + Warp3D does not, reason unknown. (at least in my test)

Une nouvelle beta de cet émulateur Amiga é été publiée. Voici la liste des changements:
- Implemented bsdsocket.library SBTC_GET_BYTES_RECEIVED and SBTC_GET_BYTES_SENT.
- Fixed floppy max possible write length, was slightly too short, b1 fixed read timing.
- Hardware emulated RTG sometimes rendered outside of right border.
- Cirrus Logic updates: CGX double scan modes fixed. Vertical multiplication by 2x CL feature supported (used if height >1023).
- All hardware emulation modes: Fixed crash when switching 24-bit modes.
- Added missing safe S3 Virge and S3 Trio thread kill support. (Existing PCem code simply killed it, even if it was currently processing 3D or blitter queue)
- Picasso IV byte VRAM access address "XOR 1" was missing in byteswap bank. (OS4 graphics corruption in 16-bit modes)
- CV64 15/16-bit non-PC modes had wrong colors, one byteswap VRAM mode was missed.
- PCem CV64 blitter emulation didn't support source/destination base address variables and clipping rectangle worked incorrectly if coordinates were negative. Caused graphics corruption if blitter accessed second 2M VRAM bank. Pre-Virge S3 blitter is strange, addressing is based on X and Y coordinates and width of current graphics mode relative to start of VRAM (+optional base offset, 0M, 1M, 2M or 3M), there are no blitter address registers.
- Added horizontal doubling support to PCem SVGA emulation, enabled automatically if mode is doublescanned and tall enough, keeps aspect ratio. For example CGX4 512x384 mode is doublescanned.
- If logging is enabled and PCem RTG board is active: board status gets logged periodically.

This should fix remaining known new RTG emulation issues. JIT Direct still causes problems but it might not be directly JIT problem but due to syncronization issue with threaded S3 blitter emulation.

Une nouvelle version de cet émulateur GameBoy a été publiée. Voici les changements apportés:
- The special effects and scaling code has been refactored for this release, and a new CPU-based linear image interpolation algorithm added. The CPU-based interpolation is used when it is impossible to use GPU to scale screen images. The Windows version has also got file drag'n'drop support and explicit "Video | Interpolate Video | Linear Scaling" option. The Linux version now supports -linear command line argument.
