Chaque dernier mercredi du mois, la MAME Team publie une nouvelle version de son émulateur. Voici ce qu'ils nous ont réservé pour cette version:
And now for something completely different: our midyear MAME release. The most notable new working machines are beloved Game & Watch titles Donkey Kong Jr. (new wide screen) and Mario Bros., and the ultra-rare Kaneko prototype Jump Kun (thanks ShouTime). There are also some newly supported clones of existing systems, like additional versions of DECO Cassette games (including the more Puck-Man-like Japanese version of Lock’n’Chase), Spanish bootlegs of Rally X and Scramble, a Korean release of Macross II with Japanese text removed (to meet “cultural import” restrictions), and a simplified version of Operation Thunderbolt for smaller cabinets in shopping centres aimed at younger children.
Another very exciting development in this release is support for running original protection programs for a number of games using MC68705P5 microcontrollers. A technique to exploit glitches and read the programs out of a protected MC68705P5 with reasonable success rate was discovered, and brizzo built a device implementing it. Games now using real protection programs include Get Star, Chack’n Pop, Rumba Lumber, Onna Sanshirou (Typhoon Gal), Field Day, Prebillian and others. Some of these games were known to be using poor simulation, so improvements to gameplay can be expected.
Other improvements include support for a MIDI output card on the Sharp X68000 (allows game sountracks to be played through an external synthesiser), English BIOS support for the Sega VMU, fixes for several xBR shaders with bgfx, working Dragon 64 Plus and Goupil G1/G2 support, Tandy CoCo Speech/Sound Cartridge support, and a big update to the Interpro driver.

With this release, PC Engine, Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive and the newly added SuperGrafx support are now quite usable! They're far from the best emulators for these systems, but with many bugfixes, full sound emulation, and save state support ... many games are now fully playable with decent accuracy.
The Game Boy Advance emulation is also now substantially improved with vastly improved sound quality and a new dot-based PPU renderer. With that change, every single component in higan is now cycle-based. Regrettably, these changes do carry a ~20% performance penalty compared to GBA emulation in v102.

Cet émulateur MSX qui n'avait pas fait parler de lui depuis presque 2 ans a été mis à jour. Voici la liste des nouveautés:
- Improved Epson printer emulation. Chakkari Copy can now print on emulated Epson JP-80 and SP-80 printers.
- SRAM of "Koei" and "ASCII/8k" cartridges was not saved in SaveState file.
- Added "Hydlide 2" ROM-type and ROM-database entry.
- Internal build error in V0.81 may have caused load-errors of resource libraries (e.g. Spanish translation).
- Missing Control-Panel label in Chinese translation.
- Minor updates in Help (Error-codes, CALL BC)
- MSX Control-Panel activation mistakenly paused RuMSX if "Save CPU" option was enabled.
- Added "Printer form feed" command in menu, to flush pending print-pages without need to change the printer or close RuMSX.
- Added PI-40 (color)printer emulation for use with "Game Master" and "Chakkari Copy".
- Improved rendering-speed of printed PDF documents.
Note: "Microsoft Print to PDF" should prefered to "FreePDF", because FreePDF reports a too small printing area (this is why pages are printed smaller than on real printers).
- Fixed MSX2+ SoftBoot (includes unpatch of MSX2PEXT.ROM)
- Fixed help for "Chakkari Copy" CALL statements: BPRINT, PAUSE, SCHANGE
- Added exclusive command-line parameters BoostCount and BoostSeconds to temporary boost the MSX startup process.

En ce moment, nous avons droit à une nouvelle version quotidienne de cet émulateur. Des notes de développement sont apparues sur le site officiel mais sont datées du 14 juin alors qu'elles n'étaient manifestement pas présentes hier. Je ne sais dont pas très bien à quelle version elles font vraiment référence, mais au cas où...
- Several issues in MMC5 sound emulation have been fixed, notably correcting a hang in at least one Koei title.
- Some minor tweaks have also been made to the various Konami VRC mappers.

Après une longue série de beta, la nouvelle version stable de WInUAE est arrivée. Voici les améliorations apportées depuis la v3.4.0:

- Softfloat FPU emulation mode. Bit perfect FPU emulation (except transcendental functions), including full arithmetic exception support. (Co-operation with Previous emulator author)
- Lightpen emulation absolute coordinate HID (USB light guns) and touch screen device support.
- American Laser Games second player and Actionware dual light gun adapter emulation.
- Real harddrive mount lock option. Enables full exclusive access even if drive has Windows mounted FAT partition(s).
- winlaunch.lib is now built-in feature and is also 64-bit compatible.
- Show [Paused] in windowed mode title bar when in pause mode.
- If statefile is loaded with one or more floppy images that can’t be opened: keep fake disk in drive (like previously) and ask for new disk path when missing disk is accessed for the first time.

Custom chipset features emulated
- AGA FMODE>0 unaligned bitplane and sprite pointer behavior implemented, resulting display corruption is now 100% accurate.
- BPLCON4 XOR mask special case in HAM6/8 or EHB modes.
- Loading blitter B-DAT manually when B-shift was nonzero.
- Lightpen hardware is now cycle-exactly emulated.
- Sprite special case when DMA mode sprite’s start X-coordinate is less than sprite’s DMA slot position.
- Audio interrupts are delayed by 2 cycles.

Feature improvements
- 68020+ T0 trace mode is now fully emulated.
- 68020 cycle exact mode adjustments.
- Memory cycle exact mode mode accuracy improved
- Implemented previously unimplemented bsdsocket.library emulation sendmsg() and recvmsg().
- Recursive mode ROM scanner now skips directories starting with dot.
- MMU emulation can be now switched on/off on the fly.
- Release all currently pressed keys when emulation pauses.
- Added memory cycle-exact Quickstart step for A1200 and CD32 configurations. Less CPU heavy than full cycle-exact and usually not much more worse (or better). At least not until 68020 CE gets better.
- Escape old style directory and hardfile paths if it contains “,”.
- Masoboshi MasterCard fully implemented, including DMA support.

Bug fixes
- FM801 16-bit audio corruption.
- A2090 ST-506 emulation.
- Possible crash when display was very wide with bitplane DMA overrun condition.
- Fixed crash when sound card audio play started and channel mode was mono and “Include CD and FMV audio” was ticked.
- Fixed crash when accessing accelerator board SCSI IO region without any added SCSI device(s).
- Fixed crash if Blizzard accelerator on board memory size was set to zero.
- JIT was not 512k or 1M Chip RAM compatible.
- Manual RAM configuration GUI didn’t accept smaller end address than current board size.
- Manually configured but disabled (size zero) Z2/Z3 banks were added to system.
- Apollo 1240/1260 memory address space fixed
- PC bridgeboard NE2000 boot crash fix.
- Windowed mode mouse does not anymore hit hidden barriers if window is partially outside of desktop or uncaptured if window is on top of task bar.
- If Custom autoconfig board order was enabled, expansion devices custom config setting(s) was not saved correctly.
- 68000 address error stacked PC was not correct in some read-modify-write instructions
- Untrap middle mouse button option was stuck.
- GUI listview column width calculation used default font size, not selected font.
- 68030 CE/prefetch mode cache access bug fixed.
- G-REX and Cirrus Logic graphics board state was reset if RAM or HW Info GUI panels were opened after emulation was started.

Après quelques mois d'absence, une nouvelle version de ce frontend pour MAME a été publiée. Les améliorations sont les suivantes:
- fix: manual scanner: convert relative paths to absolute ones (so that the file URLs are correctly interpreted when launching the PDF viewer)
- fix: collection rebuilder: the collection rebuilder’s specific settings weren’t stored under certain circumstances
- fix: corrected the initial restoration of the tab-header of the current machine-detail when the tab-header has to be scrolled
- fix: corrected UI behavior when the given emulator executable file’s path does not exist during reload (BT #143)
- fix: ROMAlyzer: added a hard limit of 2 GB per analyzed dump (the analyzer will skip individual dumps which are bigger than QByteArray’s limit, avoiding a crash)
- fix: avoid a crash when interrupting a ROM verification of tagged sets (the process is now cleanly interruptable)
- fix: the enable log settings of the check-sum scanner log and the collection rebuilder were not restored
- fix: corrected the ROM- and software-state checks to work with MAME 0.186+
- imp: software-lists: removed the temporary workaround for launching ColecoVision™ cartridge images since the issue has been fixed in MAME 0.184

- imp: added a confirmation pop-up which tells the user that it’s much faster to do a full ROM audit than to check ROM states individually above a certain amount of sets (shown for more than 500 tagged sets)
- imp: removed the -qmc2_config_path option which was renamed to -config_path in v0.42 (the old name was still supported as a more or less hidden alias)
- imp: ROMAlyzer: renamed the former Report tab to Analyzer and moved the related widgets to it, so that they are no longer suggesting a global meaning
- new: collection rebuilder: added support for rebuilding dumps that are larger than 2 GB individually (e.g. ‘hapyfsh2’, see BT #142)
